Thought as this was a Roberts n fairly pricey..would be good quality. Also sold in John Lewis..so thought must be good. It has potential to be good.. but its just far far too quiet. No ...I dont have any hearing impediment. If you put under the pillow in the pillow slip.. on faint sound. Have tried sitting next to my face on pillow .. tucking under my neck..given up tonight. Crazy why so quiet..why not just leave to user to be able to increase volume to own comfort and need. So cross wasted my money. Would like to return
Unfortunately this speaker is simply not loud enough. I have my phone on FULL volume and can still only JUST hear it. Simply NOT suitable for listening to stories etc, but could be ok for music. Disappointed as this was not one of the cheap ones (which I avoided) so was expecting a product that worked better. I will have to find a better one. Anyone got any any suggestions?
I was looking for something to put under pillow to be able to listen to music or audio book, expected great things, sadly disappointed. Even with the audio full up on MP3 player or smartphone the sound was very low, extremely high pitch, no bass and not at all any use for listening to anything.
After having to send off for the unspecified separate jack (iPhone XS max adapter), I was looking forward to listening to either: a novel, relaxation techniques, soft music, etc. to lull me to sleep, without disturbing my partner. However, I can’t hear whatever I’m listening to as it’s so quiet; even with my phone’s volume on maximum the sound is muffled and far too quiet... I’m straining to hear it. The sound quality is poor unless you hold it up to your actual ear and don’t place it below your pillow. I’m so disappointed as I thought this gadget was the answer to my nightly prayers.
I bought this so that I could listen to guided meditations to help me sleep. I read some of the previous reviews about it being quiet and thought it can’t be that bad. How wrong I was. With my iPad/iPhone and this speaker volume at its highest I still couldn’t hear it. I tried it under my pillow, I even tried attaching it to my headboard but the only way I could hear anything was by placing my ear directly on the speaker - which was quite uncomfortable. I wouldn’t recommend this at all, promptly returned.
Bit too bulky and have to turn volume high on device to hear it ... wished I bought a cheaper one :( Review update .... after 2 uses it now sounds crackly . Really not happy at the quality of this product for the price
Unfortunately I threw the packing for this away, otherwise it would be going back. It’s virtually useless really. It’s far too quiet to hear through a pillow, but the biggest problem is it’s size - it’s like having a stone under my pillow. It’s massive! I can feel it through every pillow I’ve tried it with and I just can’t sleep on it.
As reported by others, this fails by a long way to endorse the Roberts badge and would be better removed from the market.
I found the sound to be very poor quality and almost inaudible, even at full radio volume. There is some sort of primitive three stage control with very little explanation as to its purpose. All in all, a poor experience and I returned for a refund.
I've had other makes of under-pillow speakers in the past (many years ago) and found they were too quiet. I'd hoped Roberts, whose products I've always been pleased with, would be much better, especially with the volume control. I'm afraid it was far too quiet for me, so haven't used it. Sorry!
