Made my Christmas cake from this book straight away. Really easy to follow recipes, all done in Nigella's inimitable style. The book is a good read from cover to cover and had me giggling at several of her anecdotes. Highly recommended.
Arrived earlier than expected which is always good Well packaged Was advertised as very good condition. This was an understatement. A little grubby on the outside with food stains but these cleaned off easily. Very pleased
Nigella Christmas - fantastic - I cooked, last year, Nigella's turkey recipe and would never cook a turkey any other way - so easy, soak for 24 hrs, drain and bung in the oven and baste - absolutely delicious so much so there was nothing left after lunch - phew no curries etc for days after. Time lines really helpful plus advising to buying a Christmas Pudding but light with Vodka instead of Brandy which makes lighting easier - Ginger bread stuffing gorgeous - thoroughly recommend this book.
Oh yummy! There are so many recipes in here that are perfect for the Christmas season - my only problem is having the time (and money) to make them all. It was my first Christmas cooking at home when I got this book so I really found it helpful to have a book that had the basics (roast potatoes, how long to cook the turkey for etc etc) as well as some of the more exciting trimmings that you can add to make the day a little more special and make you feel like a domestic goddess. The cocktails were especially well received.
I have three words for you: Pancetta brussel sprouts!
I adore Nigella's style of cooking it is very non chalant and realistic unlike some other celebrity chefs. This book is packed with plenty of seasonal recipes to keep you occupied and to help get you into the spirit. It also gives you a complete schedule and guide to Christmas lunch/dinner should you decide to do it all a la Nigella.
There are also plenty of recipes for left overs, cookies and treats and for entertaining, it is always a handy book to have come December.
This book was bought as a Christmas Present and therefore a little disappointing to have had an issue.. And now difficult to get back to return it.. There was a printing error in the book where around 12 pages were blank. i.e. both the left and right hand pages were blank with those pages missing...
Friend recommended this and it was well worth it. Nigellas recipes do seem to work well. They don't disappoint. The ingredients can be expensive e.g. £18 for a bottle of Muscat for the Panettone pudding as well as all the other ingredients. (I made it last night) The portions are always very generous so might be possible to cook half the size for the number estimated. The Panettone pudding would have served about 10 to 12. Unless my family and friends have small appetites.
This book is my christmas cooking bible. This year, for the first time, I attempted Nigellas technique of brining the turkey overnight, and I have to say, it was very well received by everyone and definitely had more flavour. Worth the price of the book just for this! This book has a wealth of treasured recipes which will see you perfectly through the season with ease, and the many varied options for the christmas day feast are sure to please almost everyone, including vegetarians! I have had this book since it came out and there are still recipes I am desperate to try, but haven't had the occasion. The Rib of Beef with Port and Stilton Gravy especially.
