To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
We have had this keypad for almost a year and it has been very reliable so far, even in -30 degree winter temps. Setup was easy and it works as you would expect. The ability to have up to an 8 digit code is nice for extra security.
There are some minor nitpicks. The backlight isn’t very even...it just lights up in a column behind the 2, 5, and 8 keys. While there haven’t been issues so far the weatherproofing could be better. There doesn’t seem like there’s much preventing water from seeping in and potentially damaging the internals Also it would be preferred if the battery door was more subtle and at least secured with a screw. As it is the battery door simply slides off so anyone could walk up to it and remove the batteries in a few seconds with no tools. None of these things have really been a big issue yet but are areas that could be improved.
PROs: same as the original. Pairing is straightforward if you have your manuals. Works great! Cons: Same as original means the same problems. 1) Our original one lasted about four years. Hope this one lasts longer. 2) weather cover is held on with the same two plastic pins. Our original lasted about a year before snapping off. It doesn't hold up well in winter. You have to be very careful when opening or closing it. Likely reduced the lifespan of our original...
Good purchase. Easy to pair with an older model Genie single opener. Company also has a great professional video if you're needing to watch, rather than read, instructions - just be careful not to hold the pairing button down longer than said or it'll unpair your remotes (which are also easy to pair again). Only issue is needing most times to enter code multiple times but it's an inexpensive wireless system so it won't be perfect. Still easier to try a couple times than go back in the house to push the button!
This was super easy to install and setup. I had this thing up and running in about 10-15 minutes. The only thing is it lacks some features that higher end models have. However, this is a SUPER easy and simply garage opener and it does just that.
It works. It does not seem to be as responsive as I had hoped it would be. I use a 4 digit code. If I enter the code quickly it will not activate.. I have to enter the code using a 1 second count for each digit,, Ie One mississippi, Two mississippi, etc count.
The keypad was easy to install and good to use but in the first days the garage door often opened by itself, that a little bit scared, I figured my keypad wireless frequency matched with others, so I set it up again and it never happened. Till now it works very well
