To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
My god this thing frustrates me! The connection is a hit or a miss! The app is absolutely rubbish! Once the phone connects to the device you can just about view some of the photos on your camera before the connection drops and you have to start the process again.... this time you might get a bit further & start the download of one image (if you want to download the full sized image you can only do this individually - otherwise selecting multiple thumbnails means they download as a smaller image size!) so by this point your very close to successfully downloading one image, when, yip - connection lost again! I think I’ve had success with about 3 out of 15 attempts! I think because I paid 50 quid for it I keep trying it now and again incase something has changed or the performance of the app has improved! But nope! Total waste of time! And don’t even bother using it as a remote control as there’s at least a 2 second delay between your command & the reaction from the camera! I wish I had trusted the (many) negative reviews instead of trusting the positive ones! Because the writers of the positive reviews must have FAR too much time on thier hands and a LOT of patience!!!
To be honest, this should be a 5 star for the actual device but the 2 stars is for the software you need to actually use it, so it's fairly crucial if you are going to buy this.
I bought this as the model camera I have doesn't come with WiFi & although this dinky (& I mean dinky!) thing is quite fabulous, the supporting (free) app is truly dire. I'm using it on Android to DL pics to my phone & it continually drops the connection & cannot handle transferring across if there are more than 20 pics or so on the camera memory card. This makes it virtually unusable if you are hoping to take pics, transfer & share via social media/email (or whatever) on the go then forget it. The app makes it impossible & so renders the adapter useless.
I live in hope that Nikon are going to sort the app out else this is the most expensive thumbnails worth of plastic I ever bought.
Maybe I'm missing something, but I wanted it to send photo's from my Nikon D7100 to my Samsung smart 'phone. It takes forever to send all the photo's to the device in thumbnail format....especially when there's a lot of photo's on the memory card. When you've selected which photo(s) you want, the link between the 'phone and the device is frequently lost leaving you to start all over again. It does work with persistence, but one needs to be really determined and patient.
A Great idea and when it works it's fine but it constantly drops its connection and take far too long to transfer thumbnails of images. The app is very basic and the only thing you can do in 'take photo' mode is full auto. On average I have to reconnect at least 5 times each time before I can transfer my photos - actually faster to connect to a laptop to be honest. A nice idea but very basic - Nikon really should do something about this as it's really behind the times!
I was looking forward to getting this and being able to upload a shot to my phone while out on a shoot for social media. Now I'm totally regretting this decision. Firstly the Nikon app is dreadfully slow and clunky but for what I need it for I thought I could live with it. Connecting to my smart device wasn't any bother and easy to do. My biggest problem has to be the connectivity between the camera and smart device. Since I shoot Raw the upload is so slow but I can understand that and as I only tend to want to upload one picture while on a shoot it's not a deal breaker. What I can't believe though is the awful, dreadful, appalling connectivity. Quite often, half way through a transfer the app will pop up with the message 'camera disconnected' I've turned off all other wifi signals in the house and put the phone next to the camera to eliminate any interference but no difference noticed. Maybe to do with my ageing camera but certainly expected more from Nikon here.
Would not buy again.... should be straight forward... plug into camera ok. Setup ok. Then the problem starts ..... keeps dropping signal and downloading pictures over and over again. Wouldn't mind the messing about if it was a cheap brand at a cheaper price !!!!!!
