I needed a product to allow me to transfer photos from my Nikon camera to my iPhone and came across this.
Pros: ⋅ As well as being a wifi adapter, also allows you to control the Nikon camera remotely, useful for group shots for example. ⋅ The product requires you to download the free app on your phone. I managed to download this app to my iPhone 6 easily with no problems. ⋅ The product is user friendly. You simply plug the adapter into your Nikon camera, turn the camera on, switch to the adapter's wifi connection on your Apple iPhone and then open the app. Very simple. ⋅ The app allows you to view photos on your Nikon camera or take photos on your Nikon using your iPhone as a remote. ⋅ It is a good idea to enable a password on your wifi connection, as it doesn't have protection otherwise. ⋅ The actual size of the wifi adapter is the same as a 2 pence coin. The adapter fits comfortably into its own little black plastic case (not much bigger than the adapter). ⋅ The remote feature is good overall although I don't tend to use this feature. ⋅ Fast delivery of the item
Cons: ⋅ Although the the free app works, it would benefit from an update to allow smoother and better use.
Overall, this product is worth buying and is a great addition to my Nikon camera kit.
Works absolutely wine with Andoid 9! Connected straight away with a Samsung Galaxy 8+ and a Galaxy Tab S4. Instantly downloads photos as you take them. It is much faster than bluetooth and you can download 100 files from the camera in about 5 mins at the highest definition. Mine came boxed, and with all accesories, contrary to the description on here. My advise, buy this while you can because Nikon dont supply this item anymore.
I'm really glad I bought this as I feel like I can use my camera and not go through the hassle of uploading it and it taking ages. The app is quick to use and works pretty decently. It was a lot of money and I was worried it wouldn't be worth it- but so far so good. It's nice to get pictures straight to my phone and you can pick which one you want to upload so you're not worried about wasting your phone storage.
I bought this wu1a for one reason only. This was to upload my photos to my android and then onto flickr. This stopped the need to use my PC to upload and the wu1a is quicker . It does allow you to remotely trigger my nikon d3200, perhaps useful but i'll rarely use this function. I've read other reviews which complain about the remote control functions being far too limited to be of any use. My opinion is that misses the primary function of this wu1a. Which for me is simply wirelessly uploading photos from my d3200 onto android and then flickr. If like me you'd like this function then it's definitely worth the money cutting out the PC time.
I bought this wi-fi adaptor for my Nikon D3300 as I wanted the ability to transfer photos easily to my phone or tablet without the need to fire up a computer and insert the SD card. I was surprised at the size of the device, approximately 20mm by 15mm, and thought a bit expensive for such a tiny object. However, as I am just starting out with DSLR photography I didn't want to invest in a much more expensive camera with built in Wi- Fi, so decided to by the accessory. After having downloaded the free app to my phone, I am very pleased with my decision. The app is very easy to use and transfers photos at a very acceptable rate. Although the device is tiny, it comes with a small case that attaches to your camera strap, and also a thin lanyard that can attach to the top of the device, for extra security. It does beg the question, however, as the technology inside this device is miniscule, why doesn't Nikon incorporate it inside their low end cameras to begin with? If this item was a little cheaper, it would definitely deserve the extra star rating.
It does the job it was advertised for both on my D7100 DSLR and my P7800 compact. The iPhone/iPad app works well although there is a bit of a time delay on the Live View. No worse than on similar software I use with a Go Pro or my wi-fi security camera so I guess this is the state of the technology.
File transfer can be a bit slow, especially with the large images from the D7100 but its a useful item and hardly takes up space in the gadget bag as its the size of a thumb nail.
Why drop one star. Nothing wrong with it really but it would have been nice to have a PC or Mac app available. My Mac will log on to it's wi-fi but it will not see any of the shots or operate the camera.
Lovely to be able to ship photos to your phone then from there to the web/ Facebook etc. Works well, take not of the size. The photos make it look big. In fact the device isn't much bigger than a thumbnail. It comes with a neat little box say 2com long which goes on your camera strap. A little lanyard attaches the adaptor to the box and so the (small) adaptor cannot be dropped or lost when not stuck into the camera. Highly recommended. The free Nikon Utility APP still can be improved to make it more easily used (hence only 4 stars) but very pleased overall.
Great little device, the ability to attach it to the camera strap so that it is always with the camera and can't get lost is excellent. The app works very well, lets you take pictures without knocking the camera at all.
Only issue I have found is with certain lenses the wireless signal becomes irritatingly intermittent - altering the lens settings may sort this out. But using the normal lens, no problems at all, connection is good and the app works well.
