To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
This book which will now be given away as a present was very disappointing. The photos were lovely but what let it down 100% was the lack of an index showing where the ingredients could be obtained. As most recipes had ingredients that were not available in our regular supermarkets an index to show where they could be bought would have been useful - not much point in starting a dish that cannot be finished.
This is a wonderful, beautiful cookbook and the recipes are terrific. However, the product arrived in floppy packaging and as a result, the corners of the book were smushed and bent. I'm planning on giving this book as a gift, and I hate that it looks a bit sloppy and used because of Amazon's distribution methods. I wouldn't have bought it if I knew I couldn't ensure its visual quality upon arrival.
Just received this book a week or two ago. I tried the recipe for humous and it was a disaster! The recipe on page 114 calls for 1 cup tahini which is more than triple the amount specified in other recipes for humus. The liquids called for needed to be doubled to achieve a reasonable consistency. To correct for the excessive tahini taste, I ended up processing another can of chickpeas, adding more lemon juice and combining the two batches. I also added olive oil, cumin, ground coriander, ground chili and more salt. It would have been too bland otherwise, but that is personal taste
Having had this experience with one recipe, I would be inclined to test other recipes before cooking for guests
