To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I'm a vanilla fan obviously. I was disappointed at how many recipes used white chocolate. I love reading cookbooks and beyond the intro I didn't find the accompanying stories very interesting (examples: the authors husband thinks creamer in coffee is girly and the author likes popcorn popped in oil versus air popped). Sources listed for specialty vanilla should have been interesting but so many were out of stock so I will have a hard time trying the more unique recipes. There were a lot of typical vanilla recipes that just called for 2-3 times the average recipe.
