You can get a cheaper disk mount, but it will just be a piece of bent metal that you hope will fit. This a cut above those, with a choice of mounting holes and positions that should fit a wide range of PCs and 2.5-inch disks. I wanted to mount a 2.5-inch SSD in my Lenovo Desktop, in which the disks need to be firmly bolted to a vertical frame -- nothing but the bolts holds them in.
The Sabrent mount came with a bag of screws for the SSD and bolts for fixing to the PC frame. The mount itself is cleverly designed and will hold two 2.5-inch devices. I screwed in the SSD to the mount, then the whole thing is fixed into the PC as if it were a 3-5 inch disk, using the supplied bolts. Plug in the cables, and job done, with a rigid fixture of my expensive new SSD accomplished. My only criticisms are that some of the mount's edges are sharp and could easily give your fingers a cut, so handle with care; and the price is a bit high, I think.
This is a nice piece of metal, with lots of holes in it, though only a few matter, and you'll probably wish there were more (or less depending on how you look at it). You'll benefit from using a long-shafted magnetic screwdriver, as the 2.5" mounting screws are tightened through a hole in the outer side. I got this because it supports being mounted from the bottom, as I have an Antec P90 case that has lovely gel gromit bottom drive mounting screw holes (hey, it matters if it's an HDD!). It can take a bit of figuring out from the diagram to know which way is forward - I got two of these and ended up with the drives being in completely different positions - and I'm still not sure how! You don't actually have much of a choice in how you screw the drive into this caddy. Annoyingly, one of them will not take right angle SATA connectors because the drive is no where near the lip of this caddy. I'm also unsure that the sunken head screws they provide are appropriate for the type of screw holes, which are not sunken themselves.
Disappointed as description advised it fits any computer with a 3.5" slot. The bracket did screw into with the 3.5" tray, but the SSD needed to be left of centre (bracket only allowed centre mounting) and 20mm further out that the screws / bracket allows. So all in all, it was completely in the wrong place.
The only way it could work would (possibly) to buy a short female to male SATA cable to bridge the gap - but that is not advised in the description
Good product. Fits well and takes two 2.5" hard drives or SSDs. However the drives sit closely one on top of the other. While this is no problem in itself, some PSU manufacturers fit their cables to the bottom or top of the SATA-power connector, rather than at the end. Such cables are too bulky to fit in the closely stacked configuration of this adapter. You can fit one connector or the other, but not both. I had to use an adapter cable, where the power connector cables were end fitted, for one of the drives. (Perhaps one drive could be fitted upside down so the power connectors would be staggered, although I did not try this.) The Sabrent adapter itself is a well made product; recommended.
Needed this to mount my new Samsung solid state drive into my pc to replace my old hard drive. This mount is a bit more expensive than some others but it is worth it. It is made from metal and feels/ looks very well made. The holes line up perfectly and comes with the screws for attaching the solid state drive to the mount and then there are screws to attach the mount into the pc. All the holes lined up perfectly and I had no bother screwing them it. Some other mounts had holes that did not line up. So in conclusion you should buy this one!!!!! Pay the extra money and get this one.
Delivered next day. Lightweight, well made drive cage. The black paint and the smoothed metal edges give this a premium feel over other drive cages, not that the cage will ever been seen after installation. Comes with a packet of screws, enough to mount two 2.5 inch drives with all four screws and mount the cage in a PC case. Looses one star as not all the drive holes will line up with the pre-drilled holes in an old (Vostra 400) Dell tower case. It's now mounted with two screws rather than four, which for most purposes does the job. Rather than screw holes, screw slots would have allowed for more adjustment of the drive bay in the tower.
