To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Looks like they will save all your objects in case of fire but inside the case A4 documents will not fit flat without being distorted by the corners. I bought it for my important documents and it not do the job. A little bit of design skill could have solved this .It is well made and quite heavy. If you need to store gold and other metals or jewelry etc it will do the job but forget about your important documents.
I rarely write reviews but purchase on Amazon frequently. I feel like this is an item people need to hear about. Only one year into it and the key doesn't open it fully.
When trying to open it after turning the key and using the "easy" press button to lift the lid, it won't open! I had to use a screwdriver and voila, it opened up. I am hoping this wouldn't be the case if it were locked when I tried to open it...but who tries to open their own strongbox when its locked except when you buy it to make sure it works? So therefore I cannot write to what it might take to open this thing up, but I just needed to turn the latch like a locker room lock to unlock the ability for it to open. For the price, what do you expect? Ft. Knox? No, but you still expect it to work properly. I'm switching to a fingerprint strongbox/lockbox. More reliable and has a key backup...not a key as its primary way of entry.
This is a great little safe for holding small valuables and important documents, the lock mechanism is much improved over an older sentry safe that my parents have and it is solid and sturdy my only gripe about this thing is the size to fit our marriage or birth certificates the fact that they could not make this 1/2 taller and an inch longer so the papers would not fold up on the end is beyond me but i guess for 29 dollars i cannot expect much, only issue i have with this thing otherwise it is great, i even tested out the waterproof feature and it actually did not let one drop in after spraying it with my hose straight into the crack for 5 minutes, works as advertised.
The lock is defective. You would need an elephant to stand on it so that you could get the lock to latch. I am having difficulty with the company as they seem to expect me to pay to return a defective product. The lock is the key component and the reason you but it. If they sell you a defective product they should be reimbursing me and if they want it back, they should be sending me a label. It is not going to do me any good.
DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM OR FROM THIS COMPANY!
UPDATE: the company got back to me and handled things. I am satisfied.
I purchased this to keep papers and a little cash in. When I first got it it was difficult to open. Lots of pressure was needed to push down to get it open. Finally after getting it open I put my items inside. A couple of weeks later I needed to go in it for some of the cash. I could not get it open. I tried and tried. Finally a friend came over and we tried with both of us pushing down amd nothing. We are both pretty strong amd nothing. We pressed from diffent angles, we pressed on diffrent surfaces, we even tried upside down. Finally after 2 hours of and on of trying to get the box open it did. Took my things out and returning it. Definitely would not buy another one of these. Needed a box bought something else where you just turn the key amd no pressure is needed for it to open.
I couldn't get my safe to unlock. I played around with it for way too long. I finally did a google search for button stuck and found a you tube video that says you have to press down hard in the middle of the lid for the button to work. It took a couple of tries and I was finally able to get it open but I took everything out of it and wont be using it again. Also it is Heavy AF.... like too heavy.
