To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
This is my second Nighthawk and is equally as disappointing as the first. Yes the range/speed is fine but, for some strange reason, Netgear puts USB3 ports (capable of 5Gbps transfers) on its routers. Yes, the router is 1Gbps, but that doesn't explain the excruciatingly slow transfer speeds of around 100Mbps on SSDs hooked up to this port when moving files around the LAN (connected by 1Gbps ethernet).
Please Netgear, if you're going to put USB3 on your routers, at least warn us that its transfer speeds are 4x slower than USB2.
Finally, the other major problem with this router is its management UI. Pages take minutes to load, are unresponsive, don't load properly, and it asks you to get the app to save time. Got the app and it insists I register an account with my Facebook just so I can configure my router. No thanks. Back to my old Archer D7 which is somehow superior to this Netgear Nighthawk.
I've packed it up after 1 hour and it'll be returned ASAP.
