Our 4-month old baby has already had several colds, and we have tried many aspirators. Shown in the pictures are 4 of the aspirators that we have tried. This review compares these 4 different brands of aspirators. Fridababy NoseFrida Nasal Aspirator (blue with red mouthpiece at one end- ASIN B00RP0GHBO): Pros: Excellent suction; More sanitary, as it uses a disposable filter; Easy to clean. Cons: Unit falls apart easily (I has to use tape to hold it together to use); Tip is hard and uncomfortable for baby’s nose; Tip is too large to fit inside nostril of a small infant; Need to buy additional filters.
Bulb Nasal Syringe (solid light blue unit): Pros: Has good suction in small “bursts”. Cons: Difficult to be sure unit is clean.
Bubzi Nasal Aspirator (white tip with blue cap on clear container- ASIN B00J7KU3LA): Pros: Soft silicone tip; Good, consistent suction; Easy to clean. Cons: Tip inserted in baby’s nose is larger (didn’t fit into tiny infant’s nose).
Baby Bubz Aspirator (with yellow cap in pictures- ASIN B00CYSFLPA): Pros: Excellent suction; Easy to clean; Softest tip; No filters needed; Small tip fits into small infant’s nose. Cons: Takes more time to rinse out and clean.
I recommend the following nasal aspirators in the following order: #1 – Favorite: Baby Bubz Nasal Aspirator ***** #2 – 2nd Favorite: Bubzi Co. Nasal Aspirator **** #3 – 3rd Favorite: Fridababy NoseFrida Nasal Aspirator *** #4 – Least Favorite: Bulb Nasal Syringe **. Please mark if you find my review helpful. Thank you so much!
I was so excited for this! Because the Nose Frieda works amazingly but it’s super expensive and it’s hard on my kids noses because of the hard plastic.
The first time I used this on my 4 month old, I fell in love! I told everyone about this thing. My kid didn’t mind it as much as he hates the Nose Frieda.
Then I had to use it on my 2 year old. And with the first suction, I immediately ate the majority of her snot in my mouth. I definitely was not expecting that at all! And it was the grossest thing I’ve endured in a while. And because it went through the tube, it was extremely hard to clean. I’m sending this back bc even though it’s $7 cheaper than Nose Frieda, I’ll pay it because I never want to eat my kids snot again as long as I live.
This is by far the best nasal aspirator I've tried! We have the Nose Frida and started using it when my 3-1/2 yr old was a baby. I thought it worked great. My newborn has been super congested so I started using it on him this week and the parts kept coming apart and it has to be angled just right. That is not the easiest feat when you have an upset, flailing, screaming baby. So I took to researching on Amazon to search for a similar option that was smaller, wouldn't come apart and had a softer tip (the Nose Frida one is a hard plastic.) That same day while at Target I saw a Neilmed version and decided to try it. I do NOT like it at all. You can't control the suction and have to keep sucking like you are taking small sips of milkshake through a stir straw. So I ordered this Bubzi one on Amazon right away when I got home. It is the best of both worlds. It's compact, parts don't fall apart but still comes apart for cleaning, made from super soft silicone and it WORKS! I read previous reviews about accidentally sucking up snot and to use a piece of tissue in the 'snot containment area' so I did that right away and it worked like a charm. The container it comes in now comes with instructions to do so also. If you're on the fence as to which one to buy, BUY THIS ONE. You will not regret it! I'm about to buy a second one to keep in the diaper bag now.
Freaking AMAZING! I have 3 kids 2-6 I have bought every aspirator on the market... You name it I've got it. Electric, basic bulb, nose Frieda I got em' no granted none of my kids enjoy having this done but desperate times call for desperate measures so you may have to pull the ol' I'm gunna straddle you so you can't move but hey whatever it takes to make them better right? Well this is from my 4 year old who has been so congested nothing is helping this snot is like concrete he couldn't blow it out and nothing was drying it up! I know this pic is gross but it goes to show how well this product works! All the parts come apart so easy to clean! Highly highly recommend! And I will be giving this away at every baby shower forever!
This is mainly for premature babies and newborn infants! The suction tube that enters the nostrils is really tiny and sinks into the nose of my 18 month year old girl. As a result the suction is not nearly as strong as the Nose Frida which has a wider nose tube.
We have been using the Nose Frida since our baby was a newborn and now in retrospect I wish I started with this instead and transitioned to the Nose Frida now (after 12 months).
This isn't a bad gadget but it should be advertised as something for newborns to 12 month old babies.
My youngest is now around 15m old. I had heard a lot about a similar product (different brand) & was considering it.. but it required you to buy packs of “hygiene filters” to change out. Because of this, I knew that it would ultimately end up not being very convenient for a busy mom that would forget to stock up on said - filters.
Then, I came across this. No filters required.. but otherwise it works the same way. The entire thing comes apart to wash it between uses.. & it was half the price of the other product! That sounded like a WIN! My little guy recently got sick again & I knew he needed this. It was here within 48 hours & omg... it works SO WELL! He doesn’t like it.. but he is a total monster when anything comes near his nose so that’s no surprise! The tip is a soft silicone material so it doesn’t hurt their nose.. & you control the amount of suction yourself. As long as you don’t improperly tip it, all of the gross stuff goes into the little cup.. or at least out of the nose so you can wipe it away off of their face. I usually put mine in his high chair so that he can’t run.. & he sounds so much better & is able to sleep after this because he can breathe! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for babies that cannot yet blow their nose! I only wish I bought it sooner!
(Sorry for the gross picture, but this is how well it works!)
