I have a Dell 6000 USB3 docking station with 2 monitors and about half a dozen peripherals connected. I bought this switch to connect the docking station to two different laptops and have a single-button switch for all monitors and peripherals between the PCs. I'm seriously disappointed with this product. Even with only one laptop connected there is so much dropout that it's impossible to work effectively. Music breaks up, monitors flicker and at least once every few hours the whole thing resets. Total waste of money, unfortunately.
i think it has ruined my usb ports. so i switched to a different one on my computer. now the ports won't even run a simple mouse that's directly connected to it. ridiculously bright blue light. and switches are a bit slow. did i mention that it messed up my usb ports!!!!!!!!!!
Works great with Windows but not with Macbook Pro. I have my Keyboard, Mouse and 2 27" HD monitors connected to "Thinkmart USB-C Ultra HD 5K Universal Laptop Docking Station for Windows/Mac (2 HDMI & 2 DP Dual Video Outputs, Gigabit Ethernet, 6 USB 3.0, Audio out and Mic in)" and connected my Windows and Macbook Pro through this switch. The Windows machine works fine, but the Macbook Pro does not even getting a display on monitors. Not sure if this is due to DisplayLink driver issue or one of these devices does not support MacOS, but it's frustrating. Will revisit the rating if my Mac works.
I purchased this with high hopes of using 2 monitors that were connected to my Plugable USB 3.0 Universal Laptop Docking Station Dual Monitor for Windows and Mac (Dual Video: HDMI and DVI/VGA/HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet, Audio, 6 USB Ports) on 2 different Windows laptops. However, after a few minutes, the screen freezes, will flash black after about 5 seconds, then reconnect. I purchased 2 of these units and they both have the same problem. Personally, I would DEFINATELY NOT recommend these items to anyone who needs to use it on 2 different monitors passing through a port replicator or docking station.
Purchased this to split between 2 computers and one printer. The product was in good working order, but is NOT suitable for using with a printer. The product supplier stated: "Thanks for reaching out and contacting us, I'll be happy to help out. Unfortunately, complex USB devices like USB printers and scanners are very sensitive to any USB hubs or switches between themselves and their host computer. They usually must be direct-attached to the computer at startup to work, and they do not like to be live switched between host computers with our USB switch.
For this reason, Plugable does not recommend its USB switches as a solution for sharing a USB printer. It sometimes will work OK but in most cases it does not. The USB switches work best with simple USB devices like USB keyboards, mice, thumb drives, etc."
