To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Good, solid Maglite. I have it set on high, low, and strobe. So far, it functions very well. I would recommend it to a friend. It has a wider beam than my older lights, which might explain why they appear to be brighter. I actually do like the wider beam, even though it does not light as far as the older leds.
I am revising my review to 3 stars. This light does not have a clean spot, and the finish is not quite as good as other Maglites that I have. I have 2 ML300LX lights that are much better, and 1 ML300L that is also much better. I also have a ML300L that has a slightly loose head, it does not hold its focus very well. They are all 2 d cell lights.
The only downside is the switch. I wish they had a setting to start in eco as I usually only need a little light. The high setting is far too bright for what I usually need it for, which is looking around in houses. For having 4 different switch settings you would think maybe they could add one that puts eco mode first, or even eco as a momentary function and then eco and high, or something. Instead, all settings start in high and you have to push the button 3 times all the time which makes me crazy.
Also, my button went on the fritz within a couple of weeks and now I already have to bang it sometimes to get it to turn on. Button issues are why I was replacing my old maglite.
I went to Wal-Mart and got an Ozark Trail that is easier to use. I'll keep this one for general use I suppose.
Bought this as a present, went for more expensive one, thought it would be bigger than it is. Not because I read measurements just because of the price. Will see how well it does when it's opened. Arrived quickly.
