To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Well actually they came up in conversation about Americana i general and I had to admit that I couldn't name a single track or recall having heard one. So I thought this album would cover some bases. I can only say that I won't be identifying as a "Deadhead" any time soon. The psychedelic stuff was probably ground breaking back in the 60's but just grates on my ears. As for the rest you will either like it or not; on first listening only "Trucking" stood out. Like all greatest hits compilations they are useful as a toe in the water.
I came to this album with a sketchy take on the Dead. I have American Beauty but have never really got into it. This Best of ... though is excellent. When it arrived I couldn't stop playing it for the first week. I just ran it on constant replay. There is no point in analysing on a track by track basis. You are either a Dead Head with your own views on what constitutes a true Best of or you a novice like me. There doesn't seem to be a middle ground with the Dead. You're either "in" or oyu're "out" I can only say for a novice this is a great place to start you journey to Dead Head nirvana.
