No fault of Amazon ( courier service messed up ) but I had to buy this elsewhere because of time constraint. So far it's been what you expect from Maglite . The LED throws a great light , it's small enough to fit in my tool pouch, easy to handle and looks to be well made.C batteries used are a nice compromise between the AA's in the compact flashlights(aprox 3X the amphours) and D cells which tend to be heavier .Would have given it 5 stars but I just recently got it
During a power outage some time ago, I went to a local store that had their own generator, to shop. Was looking to replace D and AA batteries but stocks were depleted completely, I then noticed that the C batteries were still available, I had no flashlights that used these type of batteries. I have remedied that, now with this C cell Maglite I have an extremely functional flashlight, very bright and solidly built. Going to get another one for myself as my wife claimed the first one (family first). I do have D and AA Maglites also as there is no need to limit oneself.
Overall this Maglite flashlight is very well built. The heavy spring in the cap ensures that there will always be solid contact with the batteries so you won't be shaking this model to make it work. I had purchased Duracell flashlights before and none of the "C" cell models lasted more that a year before the LED light burned out. The one negative of this Maglite is that the zoom range is significantly smaller than that of the Duracell. Additionally, the Duracell model projects a solid beam of light throughout the zoom range while the Maglite shows a dark spot in the middle of the beam when set to the widest beam. Even so, I would still choose the Maglite over the Duracell due to its superior construction: I just don't use it at the widest beam. Maglite must believe in their product since each one has a serial number and is guaranteed for 10 years. You don't provide this kind of warranty if you don't expect the product to last. The Maglite also offers 2 levels of light intensity as well as a fast strobe and a low brightness setting for maximum battery life if you need that.
american made is another scam - The battery cap spring is such a thick gauge that its difficult to get on, no impossible to get on to me which is ridiculous as its not needed to be that thick of a spring. I do have weak muscles caused by a medical condition but Ive still never had this problem with any other flashlight & I'll gladly buy chinese as its usually better - NEXT.
