To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
One of my Bose QC25 ear cushions had split at the seam. Two options, buy a Bose replacement at Bose pricing or a third party replacement at a reduced cost. With good reviews and a lower cost this sounded like a good product to try. The difficult thing about using reviews as a guide is that they don't necessarily give you the information that you expect. In terms of the product arriving, matching description and usability this could be a 5 star. However, it misrepresents the function of the item. So I've rated this item whereby 5 stars would be item up to Bose quality ear cushion and 1 star would be a terrible copy. This version is pretty good but not as good as expected. Yes it attaches with very little fiddle to the headphones but not a perfect fit, as you have to bend and push at the cushion expect the 'leather' to feel loose for a while afterward whilst the cushion expands again to fill the void. The cushions aren't as deep as the Bose originals. The cushion material is made from a denser foam which doesn't feel as though it gives you that wrap around seal that the originals do, this also increases movement noise as you turn your head side to side and it rubs against your hair. I can also noticeably hear more external noise. I'll update after next flight for comparison. Basically, we bought Bose quality headphones for a reason. If we want to keep them up to that quality, buy a Bose replacement. These replacements after fitting them today are ok and I paid a third of what Bose wanted but the headphone performance is no longer Bose quality.
These are brilliant. Seem just as good quality as those I took off. I need to share a story, however -nothing to do with the product directly. I came in from the garden just before 5pm on a Friday evening covered in black bits of disintegrated leather - after 10? years I thought The Bose headphones had probably earned their keep, but just as I was about to throw them in the bin I decided to look on line. To find the serial number I pulled out the old cushions and left the things on the stair while I went to the computer. All of a sudden this loud high pitched shrieking started. My husband immediately climbed up to the hall fire alarm, eventually taking the battery out AND switching off the electricity supply to the whole house. Shrieking continued. We rang the alarm call out engineer. I then picked up the headphones, discovered I had left them switched on and switched them off. Shrieking stopped. Why an aaa battery product should react so violently to the removal of the ear cushions and where the ungodly noise came from, I have no idea, but save yourself an alarm engineer call out fee and a very embarrassing explanation. ANYHOW replacement ear cushions arrived at 2pm on Saturday. Amazing service and great quality. Fitting them was more than a challenge. As others have said, a poor video with his hands out of shot for much of it. I could not get any art of it to stabilise even using wooden cuticlevpushers. Gorilla glue was the answer. A very thin line of glue on the headphone end and. Thin spray of water on the cushions then clamp with a ratchet clamp on a piece of wood on which the cushions rest. Left each for 2 hors. Brilliant. Really happy.
They do do the job - eventually. However, they aren't as easy to fit as is made out (partly Bose's fault for making this fiddly, but still...) They is a technique to getting the plastic ring to connect with the flanges on the headphones, and the video provided is poorly produced, meaning you really have to go by the description as it's very hard to see what's being done. There are also several pieces supplied which weren't needed for my model (replacement mesh), but that wasn't explained anywhere. The instructions are printed *tiny* (possibly impossible to read if you are over 50?). Seems like reasonable good quality pads, and half the price of the Bose ones, but they could definitely improve the polish of the out-of-the-box experience.
The ear pads were surprisingly easy to fit, they just click in, and the quality was as good as the originals. Make sure you work your way round the complete edge and ensure all the points click. I thought that the original pads had deteriorated because of the stubble on my unshaven face, but a helpful salesman at Heathrow, showed me several different makes in the shop (not just Bose) all completely knackered. The leather used, just doesn't hack prolonged use. I will buy this product again. The price is very reasonable in comparison to the original set from Bose. It also came with replacement scrims, which I didn't need to fit, there was nothing wrong with original set.
I was a little aprehensive that these ear cushions wouldn't be as good as the BOSE originals. When they arrived I checked them against the ones to be replaced and they were a perfect match. They were quick and easy to fit with the tool provided and much cheaper than the BOSE originals. There are 2 options included for replacing the inner mesh, either black or L/R blue. These were pre fitted with 3M tape. 5 minute simple job and the headphones are like new, if not better. I brought one set to check them out to fix my son's headphones. So happy with them I ordered another pair for my headphones. Im also happy I'm not paying BOSE any more money as their customer service stinks!
