Great small version of Sri Swami Satchidananda's commentary on the Yoga Sutras. This book is very compact, light, and fairly priced. However a lot is omitted from the full version and what remains is pretty much just the translated text with some commentary here and there. Definitely get the regular one first then buy this one so you get the full commentary.
A seminal text, worth studying for valuable insights into mediation/yoga. Each Sutra is a short statement which is followed by an explanation of its importance to the study of Yoga/Meditation. Swami Satchidananda (who opened the Woodstock Festival in 1969) did a very nice job translating this and I find it to be accessible and easy to read. I keep this pocket edition in my yoga bag so if I have a break before a class, I can make productive use of my time.
I can't say enough about this book. I can't mark it, because every single sentence would be marked. The pocket size is great to have to study when waiting for various reasons or to read at work on break or at lunch.
I have the paper edition that I used as part of yoga teacher certification. Bought the electronic version as an on the go reference. Great translation and the anecdotal explanations are fun and insightful
