YA Fantasy 16+ - Grishaverse Duology
Reviewed in Australia on 30 March 2021
Book One of the Six of Crows Duology, is best read after reading the Shadow and Bone trilogy.
While the book doesn't really deal with any significant characters or events of the Shadow and Bone trilogy, if you're intending on reading S&B at some point, know that reading Six of Crows is going to spoil some things for the trilogy as the events in Six of Crows take place after the events of S&B.
Having said that, I read them in tandem, but I don't usually mind spoilers.
- YA Fantasy 16+
- Some adult content with trigger warnings (these kids, characters in the book have gone through some traumas despite only being 17yo and as an adult reader even I was triggered by some of the content)
- Plot: Major high stakes heist, 6 youths all with their own traumas and skills get together to pull off a heist
- Romance: several romantic threads are running through the story, nothing explicit - enemies to lovers - friends to lovers etc., multiple character arcs thus multiple romantic arcs
- Multiple POVs
- Dense world building (less dense if you started with Shadow and Bone)
