I tried to use this on linux. There tech dept say that there are difficulties getting it going on Ubuntu ( linux) and sked me to see if other can help. THe disc has 3 linux drivers when extracted but it is not clear which to use. Also the installation notes dont work for me. I have copied various files inti the suggested folders but nothing works. The net suggests various approaches the most useful so far is for a different make that uses the same chip set but still I get nowhere.
If anyone can help the tech guys would like to know and so would I. I find it amazing that a firm can make the hardware and then not be able to at least get somethng sorted out BUT they supply a Driver for linux. Anyone feel the same
This WI-FI adaptor was such a terrible experience for me. when the WI-FI adaptor worked it was amazing I was always around the 15-25 ms ping mark but the problem that I had with this product was that it kept on losing its signal and that was horrible whilst I was trying to game I attempted to fix this issue with a WI-FI extender from TP link but it never worked. so this led me to quickly switching to the asus ac68 wifi adaptor and that was an amazing choice.
Very average at best. Used as both a WiFi extender and as wireless access point. WiFi extender works ok but the access point which it was sold as has no instructions and once I managed to figure it out (I am reasonably tech able) best achievable data rate was about 40 meg tops. My assumption is it is a mass produced cheap item simply badged to brostrend - Sent back marked "could do much better"
Unfortunately LAN port is only 100Mbps, (all the documentation refers to "fast Ethernet" without specifying what is fast!) I would consider 1Gbe and above is fast, 100Mbps is definitely slow, (not even sure you can still buy chips that slow anymore).
As a Wi-fi repeater it's fine, it works well on both 2.5 and 5G. But if you want this as a LAN extender, (as we did), then you need something else.
Happy that this adaptor could find and access both 5G and 2G feeds available from my router. It did return speeds faster using the 5G as I would expect, however, the speeds in both cases were well below my previous adaptor which could only access 2G.
Easy to setup, but loses the WiFi signal when moved to the desired location, despite its external antenna. My phone with its internal antenna is quite happy is that location. Clearly the device is not sensitive enough.
Since this product boasts speed all over the place one would think the wired connection to be gigabit but it's not. If fast-ethernet at 100mbps is enough for you this might be a decent product. If like me you wanted gigabit look elsewhere.
