Good for increasing WiFi speed to PS4. The older PS4s only came with 2.4g WiFi, so WiFi speed can be slow, this BrosTren adapter picks up 5g WiFi router signals and provides a direct ethernet cable connection to the PS4. Your actual speed will depend on what internet service package you have. 5g WiFi offers wider channel so faster speed. The Brostrend adapter allows you to select whether to extend either 2.4g or 5g WiFi, the setup is best performed with the adapter located next to your router, once the adapter is powered use a phone to search for the Bostrend WiFi, it will search for your home WiFi network, follow the instruction on screen instructions to setup the WiFi extension. Works good with Virgin media routers, and gave me 100Mbps download speed to PS4 located upstairs, which is close to my ISP speed, prior to use of the bostrend adapter the WiFi speed to the PS4 was at best 30Mbps and would cut out when the microwave oven was switched on which is not ideal if online gaming. The bostrend adapter has two external antennas so picks up 5g WiFi very well. Can reccomend for anyone wishing to increase WiFi speed to older PS4, or for use with Smart TVs which only have 2.4g WiFi connection. As a bonus the bostrend creates a 2.4g and 5g WiFi hotspot, which give better speed performance. The bostrend adapter is much cheaper and better performance than other Powerline type WiFi extenders which relay WiFi via house mains wiring.
Easy to install. Extended my wi-fi and increased speed. Without the extender my download/upload speed was 49/18 mb/s and after I installed the extender: 73/19 mb/s
Good design as well. Unlike TP-Link which I had to return, the antennae goes upwards which helps if your sockets are too close to the table or floor. I couldn't even plug in my TP Link because my sockets were in a wrong place.
I bought this in order to connect my PVR to my network. Alas, I've had to return it as it simply isn't powerful enough to "see" my router which is only 9m from where i wanted it installed. To be fair, their tech support folk responded to my queries really quickly but, after several cycles of trying things without success, they agreed that this wasn't the right solution for me.
I needed this as a Wi-Fi to ethernet bridge for our solar power system data feed. A mains extender was originally installed but kept falling over probably due to mains interference. The BrosTrend 1200Mbps has been installed now for a few weeks and the data has never dropped out once! Was very easy to install too. The easiest way to get a remote ethernet connection to your devices via Wi-Fi :-)
I did not want to use this in either AP or Repeater mode but as a Bridge. I only wanted to connect to my existing WiFi as a client and then bridge the connection to the ethernet point. Yet there is no way to disable this as a repeater.
Since this product boasts speed all over the place one would think the wired connection to be gigabit but it's not. If fast-ethernet at 100mbps is enough for you this might be a decent product. If like me you wanted gigabit look elsewhere.
