I love the retro look of this radio - it's exactly what I was looking for. I found the same as other reviewers with the instructions - they're not particularly clear and I did have to find a lot out myself. I didn't even realise you could turn the radio off completely (rather than just putting on standby) by holding down the power button for a couple of seconds - thanks to other reviewers for that! The sound on the whole is very good but I do have to be careful where I put the radio in my kitchen because when the washing machine is on, it does cause interference! Even at a very low volume, the sound quality is better than any other radio I've owned. So the issues... I've been using for just over 2 months now and I thought the build quality was excellent when I unpacked the item. However, the plastic panel that covers the top of the radio surrounding the info screen has started to lift very slightly along one edge as shown in the photo. It does push back down and you can hear a sticky kind of glue noise, but I wouldn't expect this after just 2 months. I find the preset library quite fiddly and it's almost easier just to scroll through the scanned stations. The more annoying thing is when I put the radio in standby and switch it on next day, it plays a totally different station to the one I was listening to the day before. My old radio automatically replayed the pre-shutdown station next time it was switched on. Minor niggles, and generally the look and sound of the radio mean I'm very pleased with it.
Stylish with lots of colour ways to choose from. Did not find it easy to set up. The small printed list of instructions being inadequate. Storing programmes as hit and miss for me and I could not see how I was being inconsistent. I phoned the help and had it explained. I would like the presets to be identifiable by station name rather than frequency. The range of preset tone adjustments is good but I used the User option to adjust the tone to suit my now less than perfect hearing. I would like to have a mid-range adjustment in addition to bass and treble. Not the easiest radio to choose your preset station as you have repeatedly press the button till you arrive at your choice Overall it has good tone and sound levels for kitchen use without distortion. I am generally pleased and satisfied but there is room for improvement in version III.
This product sounds great, but it is the second one I have owned with the same problem. Keys on the top such as Info. invoke a response from adjacent keys such as Preset. This problem gets quickly worse. This is a real pity as the radio sounds fantastic, but the build quality is very poor. Now I am stuck with a rechargeable battery as I bought it separately.
Absolutely super delighted with this. What a classy radio! Sound is excellent and it's easy to use. Buttons and whole item feels very well made. Love that it also has Bluetooth plus DAB and FM! I'm very very happy with the product and would recommend!
The Hepburn mk11 was recommended to me by a friend and I am not disappointed, the sound quality is superb especially when streaming music from my laptop via bluetooth. British made and a quality piece of electronic wizardry.
