I love this unit. It keeps my sinuses clear and reduces the headaches I was having. The thing I like is I’m not taking sinus and headache drugs as much with this Navage care system. I use distilled water that has not been fortified with vitamins or minerals. The water is not kept in the fridge. Before adding it to the Navage, I heat it in a clean coffee mug in the microwave for 35 seconds. It’s lukewarm when I pour it into the Navage. That help avoid the brain freeze that colder water gives. The only issue I have with the device is the cost of the salt pods. They are quite expensive considering it’s just saline water. It reminds me of people who pay $2.50 for a plastic bottle of water. It’s a similar idea. You can make your own saline. I have not tried yet but when these pods are gone I likely will. That will save a lot of money. Other than this one factor I’d give the device 5 stars but I removed a star due to this.
I have used other products for years but nothing is as effective as this little device. The suction is good and works well helping to flush out sinuses. There could have been better instructions (i.e. how to empty the bottom tank...I needed to call the company to ask). I only gave it 4 stars because I dislike the idea that you have to purchase the expensive pods in order for this device to work. Fortunately I figured out (with the help of the internet) how to use it and make it work without having to purchase the pods. I mix my own solution as I have a large bag of salt I purchased on Amazon. It is much cheaper than buying packets or pods. I wish I would have gotten this machine years ago as I hated having to use the pots/squeeze bottles and find this much more comfortable to use.
While the technology works as advertised and its a fine rinsing of the nasal passage, it has done nothing to help with my congestion issues. Sometimes it even seems to stuff me up further. for $120 i made this purchase expecting it to help. Not too mention then you have to spend a fortune on the saline capsules. Maybe its the capsules that aren't very good? Anyway, be ware
It took me a few attempts to get it right, but once you get the hang of it this thing is a breeze to use! I much prefer it to my old netipot due to how much cleaner, faster, and more pleasant it is to use it. I suffer from all year round allergies and live next to a highway where the air quality can sometimes get pretty bad. This is great for me to keep my nasal cavity clean and lessen the allergy triggers. I’ve used it every morning so far and am hoping it will lessen my reliance on allergy medicines in the long run.
Navage really helps clear out the system but if you live in a dry environment I recommend 1. using a nasal spray, 2. a steamer of some kind or 3. Give a quick second or two for the navage then wait a minute or two for the saltwater to penetrate and loosen things up prior to using Navage or it won't pull as well. I'd love a bigger reservoir to help when severely plugged.
This product is a necessity for people who suffer from allergies or any kind of nasal or sinus congestion. Do buy the 6 month supply of saline pods. It takes a few times of practice to learn how to use this device. Be patient; it's well worth it. Standing posture, shoulders back, don't push nasal prongs in too hard, tongue position as per instructions. Water temperature should be warm (put room temperature filtered water in to top container, then fill to line with hot water, add salt pod and wait to cool. do NOT use chlorinated water in this chamber as it will really sting/burn. I found that tucking a hand towel in at the collarline helped to avoid dribbling on clothes. NOTE: The tiny screwdriver was missing from my Navage! Can't find Amazon's phone number on this site anymore - please add it back in a prominent place!
Only works if you can breath through both sides of your sinuses. I bought this because I am often severely congested in both sinuses so initially I wasn't able to use it much. Once I had some clearance I tried it and it worked well. Could really feel a difference. just beware that it doesn't last long and that if you have severe congestion it's not all that helpful.
I have been a long time nasal sufferer and have used neti pots to try and relieve my issues but they never worked, the first time I used the Navage my nose has never felt cleaner and I can breathe, my wife even commented that my nose was smaller (lack of inflammation) Pros -Its clean, self contained, and easy to use -well designed (it has instructions literally everywhere on this machine) -does an extremely good job at clearing you nasal passages and sinus
Cons -if the Navage does not get a good seal, it will just shoot water down the back of your throat
Note -If one nostril is clogged, this will not work -takes practice -yes you have to use their proprietary pods, but the results are worth it.
