The three sizes of suction cups are good. The largest works great for PAR30 bulbs, even the new LED bulbs that have a concave center that baffles other bulb changer suction cups. The set screw to secure the Changer to the pole are way too long. On PAR20s the screw hits the inside of the ceiling can, rendering it practically unusable. You have to engage and re-engage the suction cup to get the bulb installed. The extra sticky pads are good, but there should be more of them or of a reusable design.
Great product. It really suctions well. I have very high ceilings in my living room so I used a vey tall extension pole to take down the large br40 bulbs. I had the pole at 90 degree at one point to gently place the bulb on my couch just to see how well it holds on and sure enough it stayed on. The only reason I give 4 stars overall is that the smallest attachment is still to big to suction onto the traditional size light bulbs. But it works very well for anything bigger. Customer service is excellent as well. Mine was missing the string so I sent them an email. They responded promptly and sent me a replacement right away.
I would have given this item 5 stars but there was no release string attached to the suction cups. I had to attach my own. I attached a handle as is suggested in the advertisement and the release string is needed to detach the suction cup once the lightbulb is installed. It should be included. It’s not like the handle manufacturer would see this as their responsibility they have no idea what you will do with their handle. No. The responsibility lies with the suction cup company.
I think that this is a great product. I used it to replace three spotlights outside that were 25 feet up. Took a few tries to get a feel and for the suction cup to grip it, but otherwise, it made it very easy to change out the bulbs. I gave it only 4 stars due to the cost. I just don't think it is worth $25. Still would recommend it as there really aren't any cheaper alternatives on the market that work with the same effectiveness.
Use any standard thread pole for this to save money. The dust pad is a gimmick imo but the cups work great. The medium size one is the best all around one. Make sure a new bulb is centered and securely on before installing and go straight up to the fixture. Avoid the expandable type as they don't fit into all light cans.
This kit has been great for taking bulbs in multiple areas. I first used it getting stuck bulbs out of my range vent hood (hard angle to reach, no where to grip). Then I was able to attach one of the suction cups to a universal pole to get a bulb at the top of my 18-foot pitched ceiling. I though the bulb was going to shatter coming down, but the suction cup worked! Love the string for releasing bulbs when you've replaced the old one.
Works better than any other bulb changers we have had but is not perfect. One of the flood lights I removed did come loose and fall and break. At least I was outside. This will serve my purpose when I would have to wait for my grandson to come and get the tall ladder. I have only used the large one.
We used the smallest of the suction cups for a rather standard sized bulb. It performed well, though it was a bit wobbly. We did not purchase the pole or “cage”. Think we would have been more confident if we knew the bulb would not drop. Glad to have it.
