The screws and the anchors in this kit are not matched to each other. You get 100 screws that are size #10 and 100 anchors that will work with #8 screws. It also comes with a masonry drill bit sized for #10 anchors, so if you use the supplied drill bit you get a hole that is just slightly too big and when you try to put the supplied screws in it will push the anchor straight through the wall.
You might be able to get away with it if you're actually screwing into masonry but if you plan on using these for drywall forget it. Not worth returning either so now I'll be buying 100 #8 screws and 100 #10 anchors just so I can use up this box of mismatched screws and anchors. The only reason I gave it two stars instead of one is because the screws and anchors are actually good quality....you just can't use them with each other.
I didn't believe the other reviews that the screws are too big for the anchors. After getting them, they did seem too big, but I was determined to make them fit. So I did a test by holding the anchor with a pair of pliers, and was able to put the screw in. It was very tight, but it went in. Then, I drilled the hole in the drywall with the supplied drill bit. Sure enough, it was so tight that it very quickly spun the anchor in the wall even with much care. Fortunately, I had a few much smaller screws that worked great and still held the anchor nice and tight to the wall.
Great idea, for the all in one, nicely boxed package. Great that they include a drill bit. Great anchors. But very poor execution including such large screws for the anchors.
Drill bit provided is too big. Drilled 12 holes in drywall, put in plastic jacket and as i screwed in screw, the jacket pushed into drywall. Shame on me for trusting this company to provide the correct size drill bit to use. Now I have more work to repair these holes and continue with project. Thanks!
The 1/4" drill bit provided is too large for the provided anchors. I lost my first anchor in drywall using the provided drill bit; upon screwing, the anchor pushed right through the drywall. Use one drill bit size smaller than 1/4". That being said, while "ribbed," the anchors are very lightly ribbed, and over the years I've seen and used better functioning dry wall anchors. The #10 screws are good.
