This is the 2nd of theses devices that I have purchased. The first one only lasted about 20 tapes before the read heads became detached. The 2nd (identical) device has lasted for over 50 tapes and is still going strong.
I'm a dummy mac user and just bought this because it was cheap and proomised it would be easy, and I had a few tapes I really wanted to listen to again. I farted around with Audacity for a while, but couldn't get it to work. Then my resident techie pointed out that the Quicktime Player that comes with the Mac does audio recordings and after that it was super simple. I converted them into MP3s in iTunes after that, and Bob, my uncle, nodded at me approvingly.
This actually surprised me , I had another on before where you put the usb into the tape player and it records directly , I always got a hum on that unit , this one connects to your pc usb port and you use audacity to record the sound is loud and clear , but as no Dolby noise reduction you can get hiss as is the nature with tapes. ,I have used this to copy a load of audio books for plex and not had an issue that is related to the player just 30 year old tapes for the money this is the best Chinese copier you can get so far !. i use the ac adaptor (not supplied) and the usb to power it as this seems most reliable , turn volume up to full on unit a well and export as 320kbps seem best
Good cassette player. Its main function is to convert tapes in digital files. As a player, it doesn't have the best sound, the closing lid feels so thin and fragile and the change of direction button is not very clear which direction is set in. In general, a good product
Just what I wanted after finding my old cassettes in my loft. many memories of BFBS Gibraltar now recorded onto MP3 format and I can now listen once again to the many hours of personal requests etc Very easy to follow instructions. Very well worth buying to transfer music etc from cassette to PC.
I haven't played cassettes for well over 20 years, I didn't want to spend silly money just to play what are very old cassettes. Sound quality is surprisingly good when played through my Hi Fi there is some hiss as this doesn't have any noise reduction and a little bit of motor noise in quiet passages when listening through headphones, but I can live with that. The version of Audacity is from 2013 so you might want to get an updated version, I'm recording using Audacity at the moment.
This is a good product. It has a few niggles like the flimsy lid and occasional speed oscillations, but these are very minor. It plays well and does the job it was designed for very well. I got some rechargeable batteries- as it tends to go through them quite quickly, but you get a fair amount of time. I would definitely recommend this item.
This was bought to replace a similar item for my elder mother. She uses the machine to listen to story tapes but she has not listened to any music or tried the recording elements; the sound reproduction is clear for her uses. Mum did say that she had difficultly finding where to fit the batteries - they go in the space where the tape fits as shown in the product photos (my fault in not telling her this) and she feels that the battery cover is quite flimsy. Overall though she is very happy with the tape player and would have another one (hopefully not too soon though).
The build quality is a bit flimsy, but this isn't really a Walkman replacement. What it does really well is convert audio cassettes to mp3. It comes with some powerful software which takes a little bit of time to get familiar with, but is fun to learn and use. I love the noise cancellation feature. Great value for money.
