To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Bought this to connect a garage door hub via wifi, worked for a year or so then mysteriously failed. Product says it comes with a 3-year warranty, contacted IOGEAR, to their credit they replied promptly, but they proceeded to tell me I had to ship a CDN$37 unit from New Brunswick, Canada to California at my expense, including exchange, duty, and any fees, before they would authorize a replacement. That is utter BS and is what we call a NON-warranty. Buy elsewhere.
The GWU-637 is difficult to configure, in part because the configuration process only works with older versions of Internet Explorer operating on Windows 7 platforms. The configuration process does not work with Chrome or Windows 10 platforms. The provided documentation is vague and does not highlight any of these limitations. The documentation appears to be from the Windows XP era. If one has an understanding of how to configure network devices, then throw the provided documentation in the garbage and figure it out on your own.
As for the operation of the GWU637, it is highly dependant on the orientation and proximity of the device to the wifi access point. The wifi connectivity is easily lost as the distance from the access point increases, or if the antenna orientation is less than optimal.
All in all, I expect that there are other, better products on the market.
This item broke down within the first month. It will just show power on light but fails to connect by following every known setup guides and procedures. Pretty sad that we just found out few days after the return policy ended because I waited for an expert to set it up for me. What a waste of my money!!!!
This is simple BUT it is way overpriced for what it does. Look up GLI - much better bang for your buck and not much more difficult to use.
the flexibility of this device is the pits and the technical support was worse (with tech support having no knowledge of the "hidden" menu that allows you to actually customize and unlock some abilities"
Go GLI. 1/4 the price and a great build. Note: GLI is a bit of a power user product but at least they have strong user forums where an average use can get support if needed. ALTHOUGH for basic use you will not
