I have used basic Colgate since I was a kid and I am 72. I love the taste. Nothing fancy and it has the same fluoride as all the others. Crest leaves my mouth feeling funny and white stuff appears at night. My dentist told me that a lot of his patients are allergic to the ingredients in Crest and have the same reaction at night. I am one of them. This is all we use and at our ages (72), we still have our natural teeth and no funky white stuff.
I am not satisfied with the product. I bought it because it seemed like a bargain at $7.52 USD for six big tubes of Colgate. I usually buy Colgate Total, which is very expensive, so I jumped on it without researching first. Unfortunately, as I started using it, I could tell this was not the caliber of Colgate I was used to.
Apparently, this is their budget line that is made in Mexico, as opposed to NJ, USA. When you squeeze it out of the tube, it is watery. It doesn't drip, but you can tell it has a much higher water content and will slide off your brush more easily. I would describe this as a dollar store toothpaste, right down to the old style cap that doesn't stand upright.
As for the price, it's not such a bargain when you consider how high the water content is. Also, the price here on Amazon is not some out of the ordinary deal. Other stores sell this tube at comparable prices per ounce if you do the math. If you are used to the Total brand's high price, it seems like a wholesale bulk deal when you first see this. After a bit of research, I assure you, it is not.
---PROS--- Cheap price per ounce of toothpaste.
---CONS--- High water content; diluted. Flavor is not as strong compared to Total. Mouth doesn't feel as clean compared to Total. Old style cap that doesn't stand upright on its own. Hecho en Mexico.
This is one toothpaste that doesn't have titanium dioxide among its ingredients. Consumer strong preference for whitest possible toothpaste led manufacturers to adding that pigment to almost every toothpaste despite multiple studies showing it causes cancer in rats. In fact, this is the only toothpaste I found that doesn't have this undesirable ingredient.
After taste seems fumy... I feel like I just brushed my teeth with poison. I will give away the tubes to my relatives. Seems like it’s not the real Colgate. The tube when you squeeze seems soft.. as if something was added for filler. I don’t think I’ll be buying toothpaste online again!
I recently received this 6oz 6 pack. Unfortunately, the package I received had an unpleasant chemically smell. I opened two of the individual boxes and both toothpaste tubes reeked of this odor. Thinking that the odor would quickly subside, I went ahead and stored the other 4 boxes in a bathroom cabinet. In less than a day, the off-gassing of those 4 individual boxes filled the cabinet with that distinct odor and permeated all of the towels stored in that cabinet. What fumes!!!
For now, I’ve moved these smelly things into my garage. Wish I had never ordered. I’ve been a Colgate user for years, and never before had a problem.
