To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
If you have playlists on your computer, this device will NOT let you transfer them. It's a well-known problem, I researched across the internet and many people came to the same conclusion--if you hound Sony directly they will eventually tell you the same thing. You are supposed to use Windows Media Player to do it (don't even bother if you have iTunes), but this device does not support the newer WMP software. So if you have an old laptop kicking around that still uses Windows XP or Vista, you might be able to get it to work. Otherwise, you have to go song by song on the device itself and create the playlist (which is difficult to do because the device itself is not user friendly), which could take hours and if the device were to stop working you wouldn't be able to rescue that playlist. I'm returning my device for this reason. There are other mp3 players out there at half the price that do allow you to transfer playlists, but you have to look closely at the reviews and Q&A sections to see what others say about it and if there are any tricks to get it to work. I'm still in the process of finding one. I won't be using Sony products anymore unless they fix this problem. Good luck.
I'm going to try hard to return it - what a piece of junk. Does NOT work with Windows Media Player (others says it does, but I've no clue how they managed that) and the software it makes you use ... just stinks. Period. Skip this one. I'm trying to send it back Update: - the software is nearly impossible to use and there is NO WAY to use the playlists from previous models of Sony Mp3 Also - the thing works like junk. I thought I might try to make the best of it - but the best of it is this is JUNK i'm so disgusted with Sony - they were the FIRST to make Walkman products They set the standard What has happened to their standard? it has left the building.
This is my 3rd Sony Walkman and have never had a problem with them. I use one for music and needed to replace the one I used for audio books because I lost it. Sony must have cheaped out on the new ones. I got this one and had several books on it. After finishing them I went to remove and replace them on my computer and my computer won't recognize it any more. Searched online for a solution and the verdict is pretty much the same - they're just cheap pieces of crap. I wish Sony would go back to whatever they were doing before. Don't buy these until Sony fixes the problem.
I should have listened to the negative reviews before purchasing this item. I had the previous model that has been discontinued less than a year later. I needed a replacement as mine was damaged when I got caught in the rain working outside. I was excited when this item arrived. Sadly, it turned out to be a major disappointment. After fully charging it, the buttons would not work or allow you to go through the menu. The screen is dark and one cannot tell where the cursor is located or what function you are on. Sony used to be the best in all electronics. It is a shame that the quality of their products has gone so far downhill at such a warp speed.
I had a similar but now discontinued Sony Walkman that I loved. Purchased a second when the first eventually broke. When the second broke after years of dependable use, I thought this would be a third. I was wrong. Navigation interface is nonsensical. Mechanical hold and volume controls don't last. Volume doesn't get high enough to be effective for aux output. Obscure USB cable port compared to more common options. Overall fit and finish feels chintzy- headphone jack doesn't fit well for example. On top of all this, the product carries a premium price. What a letdown. Already shopping for a replacement.
Didn’t get very far before I returned it. My computer didn’t recognize it thru a USB hub. Also, you are supposed to use Music Center but I have Windows 7 and it’s not compatible with Windows 7, which the description doesn’t mention.
I have an earlier version and it has the same user interface which is easy to use.
I bought this to replace my NWE-E380, which worked like a dream btw, and thought Sony wouldn't screw me over. WRONG. This cheap piece of crap feels like it has two wires in it, has tinny audio, and honestly reads like a Chinese knockoff product than an mp3 from a reputable brand. "New model" my ass, this is actual garbage. Could not be angrier with this purchase.
Seldom do I dislike a product. This one is it. This is my first Sony purchase and I am very disappointed. It is ver expensive and not at all worth it. The sound is not good and too many steps to use. I tried the Sony brand and do not recommend. And the customer service is AWFUL. You are on hold for a long time and sent through the wringer. I have an old device from Sandisk. Way cheaper and way better all the way around. DO NOT BUY THIS SONY PRODUCT.
I need to return this item it does not work. I was not able to get the music loaded because of the Coronavirus. it was delayed . I want to return this item it does not work. I cannot load the playlist and it is not a Sony. It is some imitation. Please send me a label so i can return it and get my money back. Only a half a star would be the rating. Thank you.
