To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
the only reason Im happy is that I've owned the older version of this player before. seems like everything is from China these days hence, the so called "directions or Instruction Manual" is sort of non existent. Thankfully I already know how to use this or I'd be lost. Im also curious why it comes with some songs already on it. It may be a factory courtesy, not sure. IF it works as good as my previous, I will be happy.
Works well so far, but definitely much "cheaper" than the previous version. And I don't mean "less expensive." Lighter, cheap plastic, fewer features. Only time will tell if it lasts as long, but I'm guessing it doesn't.
This is a long review, but it might help folks who want to buy this. Sony gets 0 stars for lousy documentation. The first thing I do is read instructions. It said charge it up, so I charged it up and moved some albums over by copying/pasting (NOT using the Sony Music center). Then it said power it on,so I powered it on and at the top left it said HOLD and then it powered off. OK.... So I powered it on and at the top left it said HOLD and then it powered off. Tried that a couple more times then hit the instructions that say if it doesn't play the battery isn't charged, so back to charging the battery. Tried to power it on and it said Hold and powered it off again. Again back to the troubleshooting instructions. Did the whole exercise again and set up to return the thing. So my boyfriend decided to take a look at it and the next thing I know he's got it working. How? THERE IS A HOLD BUTTON ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE WALKMAN JUST UNDER THE VOLUME CONTROLS! Seriously? Why, in the instructions, does it NOT say to FIRST MAKE SURE THE HOLD IS TURNED OFF OR EVERY TIME YOU TRY TO TURN IT ON IT WILL SAY "HOLD" AND IMMEDIATELY TURN OFF!!!! I had to search to find out what the Hold button does! I mean I had to dig into that morass they call instructions to find what it does! What the Hold does is disable every button so that when you are transporting the device it does not accidentally get turned on and drain the battery when you are not listening to it. Actually that is a great option since that has happened to me in the past where you realize your mp3 player has been playing for hours in your gym bag and when you want to use it, the battery is drained. But that should be the first sentence in the instructions!! Now it works fine! Music quality is excellent! Navigating around the music I added to the play is more straightforward than my old SanDisk. It's a small screen but that doesn't bother me. I don't like the Sony Music Center because it wants to import all my music into it and I already have Windows Media Player and Amazon Player, I don't need a third app to have to maintain. Sony claims you need to use that to create playlists but I am fairly certain I can get around that easily. When I do, I will update this review and change it to 5 stars.
