To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I almost never write reviews, and have never written one for a cookbook. My cooking skills certainly need some work. But Julia's book makes me feel like that is okay. That cooking for yourself or for others is something more than a perfectly plated dish. Something about this book feels like home or like being invited to a great friend's house for dinner. The photography and story telling is top notch. The recipes are just as beautiful. I've only tried two so far -- the turkey ricotta meatballs and the avocado + kimchi toast -- but they will be both on regular rotation around here.
I have a lot of cookbooks. Obviously they are valued for their recipes, but actually more for inspiration. For that reason, I particularly value good cook books that include thoughtful insights (as opposed to simply listing recipes), AND I *really* care about the photography. This book gets my highest recommendation, and my copy contains the most post-it-notes, and 'stuck' pages.
This is my absolute favourite cook book. It's a really fun read and the recipes are delicious, easy to follow, and great for most levels of cooking (maybe not for the total beginner or people who don't like to spend a little time in the kitchen). The author makes sure to offer several options for the recipes, in case you don't have all the ingredients at hand, and I have had a really good time learning from Julia! Can only recommend, also a great gift for anyone who might be into deepening their basic home-maker skills :)
Eines der tollsten Kochbücher, die ich je hatte. Die Rezepte sind toll, ebenso die Varianten. Man merkt schon, dass da eine sehr erfahrene Köchin schreibt. Wirklich großartig, auch schon mehrmals verschenkt
