I feel like this device works and has given at least some improvement to my air quality or what have you, although I admit this could be purely placebo effect, they do say that even those knowing they are taking a placebo can still reap a benefit from it.
My issue, and reason for updating my review, is that I've owned and used this Ionbox for a couple of years now, and the fan is beginning to get rather noisy. It makes a grindy sort of a sound (that to me sounds like the ball bearings in the fan are wearing out, as I've had similar issues with case fans inside PCs). This makes it impossible to use in my bedroom at night, as it is too noisy. For now it still works, but I am concerned the fan will fail entirely at some point. I still like this product, outside of the noisy fan issue.
Been using this ionizer over 2 months. Love it in the basement. Such fresh, clean air and a "lighter" energy. Pleasing unobtrusive appearance. Liked it so much I bought 3 more for other rooms, including 2 offices and the bedroom. All 3 worked great out of the box. But now I notice that the units are not silent. It has a small but strong fan and I'd call it "white noisy". No uneven or weird sound. Just a steady fan noise you can hear. Might not be noticeable to some, like my husband. He isn't aware of the sound but I am. Hence 4 stars. I still keep it in the bedroom but moved it to the alcove and taped over the blue light. I still recommend it.
Alright, so I actually bought this to review on my blog. But here goes . . .
I like it, BUT . . . . it sounds like a mix between a modem, a bug zapper, and a cable box that got left on after someone was supposed to turn the tv off, but they didn't get it all the way. I mean, it's an electric field generator, basically. I didn't expect it to be as loud as it is (like I said, think something with a fan making little clicky-zappy noises, sometimes squeals), but giving it break: it kinda sounds like something generating energy and that's what it does so . . .
That said, it gives the space a fresh, buzzy, energized feel. I'm actually feeling a little jittery from it right now, as I'm typing this. For work purposes, it IS energizing, that's for sure. But because of the sound it creates, I don't know that I would sleep with it on or use it to relax with.
Get routinely lethargic during the work day though? Thumbs up!
Hi my ion box worked well when I got it, but the fan stopped working in less than a month since I got it. Is there a way I can get a replacement? Would love to change my review to a more positive one, however a product that lasts less than a month is not worth 70$.
Update (5/14/18): So IonPacific promptly shipped a new Ionbox to me after my post, no questions asked. I've only used the new one for about 2 weeks, so we'll see how it lasts. Also, I do like the product, I feel like the air is better with the product, the only thing is the durability/longevity of the device. Either way, I really appreciate the customer service, so updating my review to a 4/5 for now, hopefully it lasts.
