The black plastic on the plug covers too much of the clear plug and prevents the cable from properly connecting and clicking into place. After cutting away some of the plastic they work OK - not particularly high quality cables but they work once they stay in the sockets.
Previous purchases of Amazon Basics cables have always been reliable but can't say that of these Cat 6 RJ45's. Quality is quite poor and don't locate in sockets securely, causing break up of internet signal. May improve by removing some of balck plastic shield but I've abandoned them and will buy better quality alternatives.
These are good value cables, which used singly, are great, but if you try and use two side by side, in ports immediately next to one another, the plastic shroud/covers around the plugs foul one another, meaning that you can't plug two cables in side by side! It's fixable if you want to use a blade to pare down the plastic, but it's awful faff to resolve a problem that shouldn't be there in the first place!
These patch cables both look and feel well made. They come in a simple brown, corrugated board box sealed with a large label describing its contents. The box provides good protection in transit and is convenient for storage. They work well for me - no issues with my 500Gb connection. Be aware that these are not the direct equivalent of the more usual 2m (6feet 6inch) cables.
A strange anomaly I found is that when I power on my Xbox or tv there is a delay in the devices finding a connection. Give it 20 seconds or so and they connect. I swapped backed to my original cat5e cables and the connection is instantaneously there when my devices are powered on. I can only think that there may have been a slight fault in the pack I brought or my sky router just didn’t like them.
Handy multi-pack for use in the home. I much prefer to connect devices via cable in my home rather than via WiFi. Surprising how many devices haave network capability. Overall these do the job, have used several of them and working fine. Quality is fine for the price, no complaints with the cables.
These are great value and work perfectly. My only caveat is that they have rubber overmoulding on the connectors that mean they won't fit side by side in my Asus RT-AX88U router. The solution is either to space them out (I have 8 ports and 5 wires to connect) or to trim the rubber off with a knife. Not a deal breaker but mildly annoying. Happy with them for the price though.
