To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
It gets hot! Even without a card inserted, basically doing nothing when connected. So it's always disconnected from my cable, which is kind of a bummer—you came home, sit down to upload your new footage, and have to make an extra step to connect the reader.
The transfer speed isn't great, either. I've tested XQD (Sony QD-G128E) and SDXC (Sony SF-M128), connected to USB 3.0 on both workstation PC and brand new laptop with Thunderbolt 3 (4 lanes of PCIe). Max sequential read speed was around 190-210 MB/s, not 440 or 260 as these memory cards were advertised.
And it's all for 60 bucks. I would not recommend this reader.
This reader worked fine the first few times I used it, but the last couple times I tried to use it to upload photos to my hard drive, it shows up on the desktop... then it's gone. Little red light turns on when I push the card into it.. then goes out.. nobody home.. Overpriced piece of garbage, and now the return window on this item is closed. For having the Sony name attached to it, this is a real disappointment. I'm gonna try one that's half the price and got better reviews..
Very fast and great tool when having older and newer cards. (H,M or G) until it breaks 3 weeks later. 3.0 connectors are very fragile and not good for people on the go that connect and reconnect very often. If you leave it connect your okay !
