To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I purchased as "Fireproof", it is not insulated at all. The box may not burn, but anything inside surely will. The web site to register does not work! You cannot get your "Free" , "Fire Resistant Safe Pouch" because you cannot contact Pyle USA. Very disappointed!
This thing is not fire proof. This has been a complete false advertisement of the product. I am happy to paint an honest picture for you. This thing would melt down along with your belongings in a small home fire. A flood would get inside this thing in a second. Basically you have a light gauge metal box with a weak lock system. At best this would keep children out until they found your keys and then they would rifle through your things. The company should come clean and be honest about what they are selling. I think I will use this as a tool to teach my kids how junk is made. I could have saved my money and and put my items in a cardboard box. Pretty much same security.
Heavier then I thought but looks good and strong. fire proof is the most important. When I received the Safe. It automatically give you it says a free item. I confirmed that it was free and the only way to get it was too do this review and show them that it was done. So the free gift arrived with the price of $48.00 owing. It was refused and when I advised of this yhey stopped responding.
The safe is what I expected. The numeric key pad makes using it often an easy process. The model 14 is a convenient size for our household. No photo yet as I just received it and haven't permanently installed it. However SereneLife hasn't lived up to their commitment of a fireproof pouch as a reward for buying this safe. And the safe is not fireproof as advertised! :(
The safe claims to have fingerprint tech, it does not. Claims to be fireproof, it is not. Claims to have a touch screen, it does not. It is just junk, do not buy. I went with Amazon's recommendation here, it appears they need to do a much better job of checking products.
This "fire rated" means nothing and given the price tag, one need to understand that one is getting. It's a low cost, very small safe that the wall thickness is such that if you mount it using the included mounting bolts, would not prevent anyone from tearing the steel inside apart to gain access with just a claw hammer. The electronics would melt in any fire [plastic front keypad], thus likely opening the safe up or at the very least preventing access. The key opening is the only thing I'd use to secure this...safe. Now the fire rating...I can't see it being any sort of fire rated, the door does not close tightly and thus I give any documents inside perhaps 1-2 minutes before they are ablaze! If you are looking for a cheap "safe" for your child to play with, this is it, otherwise spend the money and buy a name brand from a large retail location.
This box may work as a safe (I never bothered to try that aspect) but it is DEFINITELY NOT FIREPROOF, even though it is described as being so. The "fireproof" barrier is a thin layer of sheet metal and there are holes punched through to allow for mounting. Fire would quickly and easily destroy any contents. I am returning my unit immediately.
I was pleased with the quality and durability of this safe, when it first arrived. I must admit I was a little disappointing in the thickness of exterior safe as I assumed it would be thicker steel used in the manufacturing process. I then had an issue with a confusing issue with the instruction manual and I was unable to open the safe until I researched the safe on YouTube. From the research I learned that there could be a security issue with the digital lock. According to the visual demonstrations a digital lock can be made to malfunction in a variety of different ways. Of course I will not divulge the ways do this. This information led me to make the decision to only use the manual lock and I recommend this advice to any potential buyers of this product.
