To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
After all the rave reviews (are they real?) I bought a start kit and several extra lights. I have a bridge and 2 lights and that is all that will work. They rest are just glorified expensive light bulbs. Oh yes they are blue tooth so can connect that way but the whole point of purchasing Phillips was that it was supposed to be compatible with Siri. Guess what... blue tooth aint. Waste of money. Biggest disappointment
This was a great deal although it took a while to arrive since it was from the uk. It also has a uk plug of course, which, in my country, just needs an adapter if you don’t otherwise have a bridge. Sometimes it is cheaper to buy an entire kit with a bridge if you want new bulbs than to purchase bulbs separately. Easy to set up, pair with an hue outdoor sensor and connect with alexa or siri or apple home. I prefer siri btw but if you are used to alexa it looks like you can do more with the system. I put one bulb in an outside light paired with the sensor and one in the hallway and so when that comes on the hallway light also comes on (if it is not already) and one in a lamp next to my bed. The bedside lamp is set to switch on and brighten as I am waking up then turn off at a set hour on work days, and to turn on and then fade out as the hour I should be asleep approaches. Of course I can override any of this by just asking siri or using the app. We have been leaving the hall light on for one of our dogs whose eyesight is fading and hue means we can adjust it to a colour and brightness that doesn’t affect the rest of the household. You can adjust brightness or dim by using app or asking siri/alexa. One thing I really like about the hue system is I can take photos of scenes I like, upload and create a colour scheme from that photo, eg dawn at the beach, foggy winter morning etc. Most of our house is downlights with a different connector to the ones philips hue downlights have so I won’t get carried away, but I will probably set up other outdoor bulbs since we seem to be using the garden more at night since we’ve had this. If there is no internet connection bulbs can be overridden with light switch and then they just behave as a warm bulb. Overall I am a big fan of philips hue because it is well integrated, useful and easy to use. I’m a gadget freak and don’t mind tinkering and patching but there are some things I want anyone in the house to be able to use without issue and this is in the same class as Ring , Roomba and Apple. Thanks to the seller!
Great bulbs for living room and bedrooms, want to buy more but for some reason this starter kit is cheaper than buying two coloured bulbs usually but at the same time I don't want to waste a hub by buying this twice to save money on bulbs as we are trying to be low and mindful of waste so will probably just buy the regular warm white light bulbs for other rooms. Works great with Google assistant and is easy to set up timers, you can even set lights to turn on at sunset.
