A glorious 26 track collection released in perfect time for Christmas shopping! All the greats are here...Oh Pretty Woman...Only the Lonely...Crying....my own special favourite, Falling...In Dreams etc, etc. Also included are the fabulous Wilbury's tracks..Not Alone Anymore(with Roy on one of the most beautiful lead vocals he ever recorded) and their breakthrough song Handle With Care. Claudette is taken from the Black&White Night show, otherwise they are all studio recordings. One minor gripe-the cover is just a darker version of the All Time Greatest Hits album-but the contents are impeccable. Every member of the family deserves one!
This another superb offering from the vaults of yesteryear, although of course there have been numerous 'greatest-hits' releases each offering it's own reflection of the legendary 'Roy Orbison's' much loved releases, this release offers many of his great 60's chart-successes including all three chart-toppers - 'Only The Lonely' (1960) - 'It's Over' (1964) and of course 'Pretty Woman' (also 1964) the latter of course re-surfacing as the title-track for the 'Richard Gere' / 'Julia Roberts' film of the same name (1990) The album also includes a few tracks from his time with the 'Traveling Wilburys' - 'Not Alone Anymore' and 'Handle With Care' (the latter a number '21' chart-entry from 1988) among other members of 'The Traveling Wilburys' included - Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne and former fab-four member George Harrison. Also among the tracks on-board 'You Got It' - 'She's A Mystery To Me' and 'I Drove All Night' songs that charted after 'Roy's' sad passing late 1988 after suffering a heart-attack. There are one or two early numbers i'd like to have seen included a among the track-listings such as 'The Crowd' and 'Borne On The Wind' though it's nice to see album-tracks such as 'Love Hurts' included (many versions released by artists down the years, 'The Big O's version always a firm favourite of mine) I was privileged to have seen 'Roy' live at a local venue back in the early-mid 60's.....(sounded just as good live as on disc - a great talent) This release a great reflection of his music down the years.....(includes small booklet) (check-it-out)
Roy Orbison had the most fantastic voice, and for my money was the only serious contender to Elvis. This cd brings his hits from his various record labels together for the first time, so give your ears a treat and add this to your collection.
This album was a gift from my wife at Christmas and I am very pleased with it. A good selection of songs and a double album as well so plenty to listen too. It also come with the option of a free digital version to download but as yet I have not done that, so an excellent gift all round.
Arrived in prompt time. Bought by design as my mother is a fan many years apart from other well known sixties she likes. Stunning performer and breathtaking voice from yester years. Superb collection of various forms combined with traveling wilberys songs. Offers true vision of the legendary artist bringing back memories
I'm a huge fan of classic rock, Beatles, Zeppelin, ELO, Rainbow etc, but when it comes to singing there are 2 names who come straight to mind, Paul Rodgers (free/bad co) and the late and great Roy Orbison. Wow what a voice could listen to him all day and never get tired of this wonderful talent. RIP Roy, and thanks for all these gems you have left us.
