The online picture shows these as "golfball" style. They are not. It was impossible to know this before purchase because the dimensions given (12.7 x 18.9 x 11.5 cm) are for a box of six, not an individual bulb. For this reason I have given fewer stars.
They appear to be well made but it is difficult to go beyond this simple assessment without disassembling a unit.
I am unable to give an opinion on longevity as the two bulbs (of six bought) I have used so far are still operating satisfactorily.
I have not measured the brightness with a meter but I would guess the stated value of 806 Lumen is not far off the actual figure.
Light output was good, and it made no noise. But longevity (on a sample of one) has been very poor: it lasted only 5 months in a standard lamp that is typically used for a few hours most evenings. So perhaps 600 hours use in total? Not the advertised a15,000 hours and well short of even a typical old fashioned incandescent lamp. Come on Philips - this is neither cost effective nor environmentally acceptable.
When i Bought these lights, I was expecting to have a box of 6 light bulbs, but infact 2 cards with 3 light bulbs on each card, and well, the packing was light bulbs on a card in in like a plastic bag type grey plastic with no protection for the lights, so when i unwraped the lamps i tried them 2 did not work, i was in 2 minds about leaving feed back but it would be nice for the seller to see this and contact me
Well, so far, every one pulled from the box works - not something I’ve found guaranteed with other LED bulbs. However, there’s a distinctive buzz when they’re operating. Not too bad if a ceiling light, but distracting in a table lamp. Three stars on this basis.
I’ll have to see for longevity. I’m not seeing great lifespan on LED bulbs but it’s too soon to say on these.
I have bought many “off brand” bulbs without any issues, disappointed to find I paid a higher price for the Philips product and had one not working at all. Maybe an isolated occurrence, and not worth going through a return process for £3 for one bulb, just annoying!
These are ok, but the light is nowhere near as warm as an incandescent bulb or saying that even the Philips CFL Tornado bulbs (which are very good). I suspect I'm going to be looking for replacements soon, as the light it just too cold and harsh for living room side lamps. The 100w equivalents are very good in the kitchen where you need a slightly harsher light.
For some reason these Philips led bulbs make an annoying hum - while it would be acceptable in a noisy area of the house - I would advise not fitting them in a bed room etc as it would drive you nuts. I have various older designs of Philips LED bulbs & none of them make a noise during operation. Philip's have obviously cheapened the design on these & an annoying hum is the result.
