Please note that if you use this SIM card for data in the EU you only get 12GB rather than the 24GB advertised. This is because of Three’s ‘fair use’ policy which is capped at 12GB only. A bit like buying a bottle of wine but only being allowed to drink half of it!
Bought from a seller. What a palaver, I buy these SIMS regularly and I have worked in mobile telecoms for over 20 years. Their SIMs aren't activated/pre-provisioned ready to use. Nowhere did they state in the sales info that you have to request activation via a webpage. Even worse, you have to set it up via a mobile device. The latter for me was the final straw as the SIM is for a CAR (so how do I set it up then whilst its in a CAR!!). Laughable - a basic requirement missed. Thanks for wasting my time.
I bought three of these cards for use while visiting Europe over the winter. 3 only allow 12GB out of the 24 to be used abroad, so logically the second 12GB on each prepaid SIM should be available for use in the UK, right? However, of the three SIMS: 1. The first will not work at all in the UK - says it's connected but no internet. 2. The second worked for one hour [ONE HOUR!] before a message came up saying it had run out of credit, time to buy some more. 3. The third has been working - thus far - for almost two hours. I am using it to write this review [before it also fails, as I expect it to] because Customer Service from 3 is absolutely appalling - I cannot contact any sensible human to find out what has gone wrong. To conclude; I paid almost £150 for what should have been a total of 72GB of internet access. In reality I have received only just over half what was promised. Very, very disappointing.
The Unit's I had DON'T WORK as they have been already registered in 1997 to a company or person THREE Sales informed me ! What Total Frustration trying to find out why THREE Kept on cutting my connection OFF MY waste of time 4 days on the phone, trying to tell ME its Breach of 6.4 & 6.8 when the units have already been pre-registered by a company or person in 1997 ! when I contact the SALES TEAM at THREE !, they then informed ME I was fuming ! SO MY answer would be to Stay away from this purchase, I have written a Honest review IF this is taken down which I am taking a photo of this review then its to hide the truth from the consumer, & Only to support the Seller !
I purchased this sim card for my trip to Japan this year as wanted connectivity for lowest cost. I found the set up very confusing and whilst successfully registered found it did not work whilst away. Today I received a message rquiring a top up to continue to use. I have not received any useful use from this device and would recommend an alternative solution is sought so not to have my poor service. I ended up using wifi and begging my girlfriend to use her hotspot, her card worked well. Very Dissappointed as complete waste of money and a great deal of time. m
We bought this product before going to France on holiday as we are frequently seem to have problems with WiFi. We mistakenly thought that we could use it with a mobile phone, but on reaching our destination discovered that we couldn’t. The information doesn’t make it clear that it can’t be used from a mobile phone, it’s only when we read the small print on the package containing the Sim that we realised our mistake. So for us the product was not what we thought it was and we wasted our money purchasing it. We think it should state unambiguously that it is not compatible with phones as I’m sure other people may have made this mistake.
24Gb for forty three quid might seem quite reasonable value compared to most alternatives but the service is abysmal. It is so slow you'll be lucky to use 24Gb before it expires. In deepest, darkest Kingston-upon-Thames I'm doing some speed tests and the 1st one is 0.30 Mbps download and 18.7Mbps upload with 27ms ping. On my second test I got 3.0 Mbps, third is 2.5 Mbps, fourth is 7.19 Mbps, fifth is 0.80 Mbps. This is all in the space of a few minutes. Most of my tests give less than 1Mbps download. It seems Three is very sensitive to how many people are using the service at any one time and Kingston is an university town and there are several student accommodation blocks close to the centre.
I started using the sim today. The sim worked out of the packet in my TP link mifi unit but when I came to register it and set up a MY3 account I was told it had already been registered. I therefore don't know whether there is the correct amount of data and time limit left on it or whether it has already been used before. I can't re-set the account because it is based on the phone number which is data only so I can't therefore receive a text or email from the company. Very annoying.
I bought a 12gb card for £28.72 for my TP link 4G data device, which is more expensive than others but it appeared to have no set up faffing. Burnt through the data unbelievably quickly. For instance a I hour Microsoft Teams call uses 1.5 gig!! Then tried to top up but couldn't speak to anyone and the online, and live chat not working properly and call centre is just and endless loop. It was impossible to speak to a person to resolve. Eventually i found a youtube video to show me how to read mails sent to the device so I could set up a top up. Promised they would call me back but never did (over two days now). Eventually managed to get a top up sorted but very stressful and complicated - but it is twice as expensive (7gb for £25) Bought an apple TV series for £13.99 (6 x I hour episodes) and it has cost me more to down load it then to buy it!! Have ordered a new sim from Vodaphone who do let you speak to a real person if you need support
