I could sit and watch Jamie Oliver all day however this book isn't for the simple cook. The recipes are detailed and the ingredients sometimes out of the ordinary, however without them flavour would be compromised and Jamie wouldn't be doing what he does best. Not my favourite cook book but would recommend if you have the time and commitment to put the effort in making the meals.
Love the book, especially at the second hand price of under £4! Quick delivery and excellent condition, as described. I’m into this kind of food, so my stock cupboard is fairly well stocked with the required ingredients and, as with all of Jamie’s books, the recipes are easy to follow and work well. I love that they are calorie counted, too. If you’re new to this kind of diet, you may need to pop to the supermarket to stock up on some basics for these dishes!
I was brought this book as a gift and I would say it is one of the best cookbooks I own. I attribute the use of cookbooks by the number of recipes I actually use from the book. I have added a number of meals and snack from this book to my monthly diet.
I love this book. As some other reviewers said it does have some ingredients that are hard to get (particularly outside of the UK), however so far I was able to either find a subsitute on line, or make my own (like in the case of harissa, which I had never heard of). The final result of the dishes that I have made were so flavourful and satisfying that they will be made again and again. Sometimes they were so good we forgot that they are so healthy. I am glad I purchased this and look forward to making many more delicious meals from this book.
Love all of Jamie's books. This one was very good. I expected it to be a departure from his usual cooking, and it is as expected. He kept it quite main stream which is no harm if it gets us all thinking about eating healthier. If you want to go the whole hog, so to speak, Madeline Shaw, the Hemsley sisters and Roz Purcell go all out on the healthy stuff too. I love this book as I do like Jamie's approach to his recipes.
Jamie is such a talented and imaginative chef. The pages of this book jump out with imagination and colour . I feel healthy just reading it. Good, solid jewels of recipes here. I would be happy to give or receive as a gift.
Jamie's cook books are always good value. In this one he's concentrating on healthy eating, and I think there are more unusual ingredients here than you would find in his other books. For instance, granola for breakfast, corn and quinoa salad for lunch, and roasted squash laksa bake for dinner. Jamie's recipes look delicious, and nutritional values are given, in line with his campaign to get schools and families eating healthy food. All his books are good, but this is the one to buy if you want healthy recipes and don't mind trying new ingredients such as spelt spaghetti, sprouting seeds or bresaola.
