I bought the Amazon Fire Stick 4K and realized that the stick needed to be plugged into an outlet. My previous Amazon stick worked fine from the USB port on my tv. After reading reviews I realized the 4K version needs more power to function, hence the error message I got from the Fire Stick. I found this item and doing research and I was skeptical. I thought all cords were the same but for some reason this one works. I can now use my 4K Fire Stick while plugged into my USB port on the tv. This frees up a much needed inlet for my sound bar. Happy with purchase.
After switching to this for powering my firestick so I would free up an outlet the firestick randomly shuts off. There is no rhyme or reason to it. It can happen 2 or 3 times an hour than not at all for days. It is annoying though because the firestick completely shuts down when you turn off your TV. Makes sense because power is drawn through the usb port on your TV. Just takes longer when you turn on the TV so every time it shuts off the TV I have to wait for the firestick to boot up from off.
I picked it up and immediately tried it. It keeping saying there wasn't enough USB power for my fire stick so it kept shutting off and on but also it would saying it needed to update or something and it would take 10mins. After an hour if that I unplugged it and went back to my normal hookup. Well it started giving me the same problems for about 25mins and it finally kicked on to the home screen. I'll be returning the cord.
It works. My only problem is that it powers off the stick when powering off the TV. When you power on the TV, the stick goes on the intro menu before going immediately for example "youtubeTV". If the original power line is used, the stick has power on even you stop using TV. So if you power on the TV, the stick goes immediately to YouTubetv, Netflix, etc. without going thru to the stick intro menu.
This is designed to power a device such as the Amazon Fire Stick. The only problem I encountered is that the TV must be powered up first to energize the accessory. It negated the advantage of controlling the TV and device with one remote. All 3 of the TVs in my home are LG's; perhaps it is different with other brands, but the USB port is dead until the TV is powered up.
This isn’t the manufacture’s fault, but I wanted to let people know. For me at least, using this plugged into my TV didn’t provide enough power to the fire stick (4K HDR). To be fair, I tried using the cord that came with the stick plugged into the TV and still... not enough power. Maybe because it’s an HDR stick? IDK. But again... not the seller’s or manufacturer’s fault in my opinion.
I bought two of theses, one for the gaming TV in one room and one for the main TV in the living room. I tried using the 9ne on the gaming TV and the USB port doesn't support this, that's my bad. The one in the living room worked great for two weeks, then the Firestick wouldn't stat up, it would just loop through the startup process. I unplugged everything and retried and still had the same issue. I plugged the regular power supply in and it started working properly again. Nice idea, just doesn't work very well.
This product was easy to install and to use. The idea of the cable is great but it did not work for my television. It may be because my television is a little older but once I used the cable my FireStick kept loosing its signal...so sad bc I liked the idea of one less cord in the outlet.
It’s a nice invent and don’t get me wrong certainly worth it. But, when hooking up my firestick it kept saying the cord wasn’t good enough and I needed to plug it in with the power cord. To me that defeats the purpose. But I do love how I can use it and not have tons of cords running from my tv.
My fire stick won't work with it so now I just charge random micro usb items like my ring door bell. Not a waste but since my fire stick would rather take up an outlet and be plugged into the wall I'm over it. I didn't return it because it still has a purpose.
