I like the magnetic backing for easy attachment to a metal surface, which means it is easy to detach for changing batteries. I attached one magnetically to the top of a metal screen door, and another also magnetically to the side of my cast iron bath.
I stuck one to the top wooden lintel of my front door with double-sided tape where I struggle to see the keyhole when it is dark. I will have to detach that when comes time to changing batteries.
The light is a cold white. I would have preferred a warm white but there was no choice.
Really easy to install. Thought it wasn't working at first because it wouldn't light up, but turns out it just needs to be very dark for it to work. Probably best suited to be installed inside a room that you would usually keep the door shut for, and where there is no window inside to let light in.
Love this purchase and find the motion detection to be excellent. I have used it positioned in hallway, kitchen and the lavatory rather than utilising normal lights at night. Gives adequate light and cuts down on use of lights at night.
As others have mentioned the motion sensor is not really very sensitive. I had to actually bang one around to get it to turn on and I'm not sure it will turn on when I open my closet door. I am using them in a craft room to help light the shelves on the bottom of the closet that don't get much light. They do take a lot of batteries for an "LED" product but the mounting design is interesting. Technically it is a magnet with a peel sticker on one side. The light mounts to the magnet which sticks to the wall. I would assume if you were sticking it on something metal you could turn it around and stick the sticky part to the light and the magnet to the metal wall. I thought that was a nice feature because it also means that when you need to change your battery you can take the unit off the wall and change it easily then put it back without having to redo your peel and stick every time. It shipped well and I would recommend it.
These are GREAT lights. I put on on a shelf in my utility room, leaning against something, to figure out where to mount it... I don' have to mount it, it's working GREAT just like that. I put another one at an end of my living room, leaning against a lamp (that is hard to find in the dark) - it's working great too! I wish it came with another mounting - tape is a one-shot thing and I don't know what it will look like after removal. I also kinda wish they had a brightness setting. BTW; the sensor is so good it even works in the box (after batteries are installed).
I installed one of these lights in my pantry. I use the pantry every evening to access the bag holding my dog's food. The light turns on immediately and gives plenty of light to either fill my dog's bowl or see the shelves holding our food. I've had the light installed for over a month and a half, and haven't had to replace the batteries yet. With the magnetic tape it is an easy install. Just press the sticky side of the tape wherever you want the light, then just put the light on the magnet side of the tape.
Very bright. Motion detection is great! Using these in my gun safe. The perfect alternative solution to using wired lighting in the safe. As a previous review mentioned, using velcro on the magnetic strip is the answer to mounting in a carpet lined safe. One set of three was enough for my 28x20x57 inch safe. Ordered a second set for another safe. If the lights do not work immediately after putting the batteries in, just shake the light. Not sure why this was necessary, but it worked. Lights work flawlessly!
Update: seller sent replacement of the faulty light. Refreshing to work with a seller that provides good customer service. All are working well. Original review: Of the three that came in the set, two are still working well. One however as of a few weeks ago (they're only six months old), only lights at a very dim level. I replaced the batteries but this did not fix the problem. I can't find any adjustment so I'm assuming it is a circuit board problem. Very disappointed.
