Easy to shuck, contains a white label WD100EMAZ. Good value for NAS storage

I purchased this 10TB WD Elements Desktop Hard Drive on 5 April 2020 and shucked the internal hard drive for use in my Synology DS918+. The internal drive was a WD100EMAZ Sata 6GB/s white label drive made in Thailand on 03 SEP 2019, which is detected and works perfectly in the Synology NAS. (The full part number of the hard drive is WD100EMAZ-00WJTA0).
Very happy with the price $330 and cost per TB given the AUD/USD conversion rate as of April 2020.

BEWARE - the ones advertised with "au plug" are not genuine power supplies. The box has been opened up and the power supply has been swapped with a cheap "asian power devices inc" power supply.

The power supply is not a genuine WD power supply. And the item is not brand new if it has been opened and the contents tampered with.

I've had many of these kind of drives before, mostly 2TB and older versions.
Unlike the older versions, this 12TB version is lighter, smaller and incredibly much faster.
I backed up a 10TB server in less than 3 days. I did expect this to take a lot longer.
And yes, I did check that the backed up files were readable from my laptop, which was successful.
Highly recommended!

Works fine, does what I need it to do. The reason why I gave a 4 star and not a 5 star was because the Hard drive is not 5TB it is actually 4.54TB, but still as I said works fine. Recommend this product!

Great for PS4 storage

I bought this to use to extend the storage space on my PS4. It was easy to setup and use... just plugged it in and formatted it in the PS4 menu and it was ready to go within minutes. No external power is required. Speeds are quite adequate for using with the PS4 with games starting and running fine that are stored on it.

8/10 definitely recommend!

As someone who is constantly using portable drives for backup and long-term storage. Western Digital definitely is up there in terms of quality and value for money.

I've stopped using some brands altogether over the years and found while all slowly deteriorate some get way more use and reformatting cycles than others.

WD is a great brand if you are after reliability at a reasonable price. (Some are slightly better at a higher price point but this is a review on these particular drives).

Would recommend for most use cases.

Very sorry I purchased a WD again and didn't learn from an earlier mistake. The lower price sucked me in but WD capacity is much lower than other brands. My Seagate 4TB has 3.9 TB capacity but this one had almost a full TB missing. Called WD and they told me this is standard for their product. Definitely worth paying a little extra and going with a trusted brand.

Wish it was cheaper. I was going to wait for this to go on sale but it never did and I was desperate for hard drive space. I've had it for a few weeks now and it's constantly plugged in because I use it as external space on my mac computer for studying at home (a lot of lecture videos). Seems pretty reliable, had no issues at all with setup or connectivity. When I got it I formatted in as Mac-os journaled like the website instructions say. The blue light is annoying at night so I had to hide the drive under my monitor stand but no big deal.
