I was really looking forward to this groomer and was pleased with the quality once I opened the box. However, the lack of ability to buy additional guards in different sizes really limits the usefulness of this product. I purchased this to replace my norelco beardtrimmer which was starting to die and feeling a bit cheap. I thought upgrading to their more expensive multigroom "All-in-one trimmer" would be a great improvement. This was definitely not the case. My old trimmer had the adjustable "wheel" that allowed you to move the guard up/down a little with each click, which gave the ability to pick your desired length. However, with this model, and all other "multigroomer" models offered by norelco, they send you a set of guards in different sizes for their different trimmer attachments. Once you get to the "hair trimmer" guards, they jump in size quite drastically. (9mm, 12mm, 16mm) As someone who likes their beard on the bigger/longer side, I have no ability to go longer than 16mm, as well as the difference between 12mm and 16mm is a bit much. This wouldn't be an issue if norelco offered additional guards in other sizes but upon reaching out to the company, they stated they do not make additional guard sizes. So, despite being a very nice, and what seems to be quality groomer (although I've only had it for a month and there is plastic where the trimmer connects to the motor) I really wish I went with another brand who offers additional guard sizes. Chalk this one up to poor research prior to purchase. (although, someone did ask this question and was answered by a person saying they were available from "official guards reseller"). If you're looking for the ability to trim your beard, or hair, to a specific length, you should look elsewhere.
I find this thing isn't as good as cheaper models I have had. I find I have to do way more pass-overs to get the same results in terms of a close trim (with no guards on). So it takes way longer to just trim my face than with other models I have had that cost hakfbas much. The battery life is great. Also lots of guard options and a little case to put them in is good. I just think it's not designed properly to trim close to facial hair.
Within one year of use (june2019-feb2020) Its main machine has stopped to work Not getting charge Charger is in good condition. Although ,it is under waranttee period bt My place is very far from Its service centre location
With my grooming kit I hav got Universal charger with that machine..
I m regular user of philips trimmer since last 7yrs Bt with this product I hav to face with Its long lasting, Durability, Issues.. Such a disappointing
Honestly this isn’t a very handy groomer. I didn’t realise it wasn’t waterproof until I got it and I find that annoying. This groomer comes with plenty of different pieces with different settings but it just bothered me too much that I can’t use it in the shower or have my face wet when grooming/shaving. I wouldn’t buy it again.
I found I took twice as long shaving my beard as I did with my trimmer from 10 years ago. The motor is not powerful and the actual blade width is quite narrow. I also had a lot of trouble cutting harder to reach or smaller hairs with any of the guards available. Returned it after one try.
Received 26/11/2018. Charged it for 24hr. Equipped the 3mm attachment. Its wild to me after a 24hr charge my face would be completely red and my beard uneven. This trimmer pulls and cant keep up. I don't have the thickest beard by any means either.
Then put on the 3mm body attachment and decided to use it on my chest to see how well it would do with it. Probably took me 20 minutes. My chest hurts and I look like Elmo. I had to pull the attachment off, clean it, put it back on, try to get a solid swipe, ONLY to have to go over it again... and again... and again.
I gave it a 2 star because I am somewhat 'shaved'.
Maybe I got a bad one, maybe this product is just awful. The 30$ Philips Norelco I pitched in the trash after a year was so much better than this thing.
All I want is a clean shave like the older Norelco Multigroom Pro and even the 5100 had before they took out the foils. I paid triple the price to get this model just for one foil attachment! Also, the shave is 1mm at best, so I am still left with visible stubble that only a foil or better line up shaver can clean up. So don't expect to do any line work from this, it isn't good for that either like how the pictures look in the product description leads you to believe.
Yes, the battery holds for 5 hours, but guess what, it takes me about 15-30 minutes tops to shave. Also since this is always in my bathroom I can just plug it right back up. Since I end up having to buy another set of clippers to get a clean shave and another to get a clean line, the cost is not worth it in my opinion. You are paying for a big battery here not functionality.
Here's a breakdown of my most important key takeaways : 1. It does not shave closer than 1mm for a clean shave. 2. It does not have enough foil shavers that older and cheaper models had. 3. It does not cut close enough to do line ups with. 4. It has a ridiculously long battery life that doesn't matter to me or offset the above negatives. 5. It needs to have all more useful attachments for it to make sense at this price point. 6. It has a very durable, attractive, and quality feeling frame. So it's great as bathroom decoration for those who care about that more than their beard looking great.
My conclusion: At this price point, I expect more and better. I shouldn't need to buy 2 other shavers to fill for the attachments that this is missing. It doesn't live up to the "All in one" claim. I am very disappointed since Norelco's bodygrooms were my #1. It's time to look elsewhere now.
PS: Why make people buy more expensive models just to get one attachment? That's not very nice. Bring the foils back to all of your models! I can't be the only one that noticed and wants this!
Over priced for what you get. And the company DOES NOT make any other guards to fit it btw... It is not water proof and cleaning it is a PITA. What looks like white lithium grease is all over inner parts to the blades and those grease deposits quickly become hair prison camps. I expected something better than this, especially for the price. What you are paying for with this product is an advertised "great" battery life...... Ya know, for those days when you need to spend 2+ hours shaving with it. Save your money and buy something else. This product is just a cheap trimmer stuck on a large battery.
I’ve always bought Norelco beard trimmers. I needed a new one because the battery went bad in my old one. My previous Norelco was only $20, so with this one being $60 I thought it would be three time later better. I was wrong. My first trim it snags and pulls hair and my beard wasn’t even long. Just a 3day touch up. You have to move at a slow pace for it not to snag and pull hair. I guess the thing you’re paying for is battery life. Claims to have a 5hr battery life. You will Ned it cuz it takes time for a basic trim. The attachments are nice but it’s way too many. My old Norelco had two attachments one for hair and one for facial hair. Each had an adjustable guard. I just expected better. Rather have a new $20 trimmer.
