So as other reviewers have rightly noted - the heat disc gets burnt straight away which leaves an orangey tinge in the water and there'a no obvious way to prevent it. Also it leaks, water drips down the inside of the lid and it comes out of the gap between the lid and base, which I would have thought there shouldn't even be a gap in the first place?? It sterilises the bottles which is fine, but not happy with the puddle it leaves on my kitchen counter, or the towel I have to put underneath it to prevent the puddle, or the burnt heating disc which could taint the bottles that are being sterilised.
This product is actually dangerous. It was working well (I assume) until BY ACCIDENT we stayed in the kitchen whilst it was running. It turned off in what I thought was less then a minute. I tried to run it again and the cycle started and stopped within one and a half minutes. How long has it been doing this! Unless you stand and watch it, you don't know if it has completed the cycle properly. Have the bottles been sterilized or not?
Bought the product even after there were many negative reviews. Bad idea...the product does not seem to be durable . Good things : 1. easy to use 2. Compact as expected 3. Good discount price
Issues I found : 1. The bottles smelled a bit smoky 2. The timer is not working which leads to sterilisation running longer 3. The plate has already started to lose color 4. The plate also rusted due to over heating (I think due to longer running of the cycle , sometimes more than 8 minutes)
I am now manually switching off the steriliser after 5 minutes to avoid further damage, but it may not work for very long.
A good steriliser with a few drawbacks. Most sterilisers gain limescale after use, this one does seem to get it fairly quickly which is why I personally believe it should be sold a little bit cheaper. It does, however, have a large capacity for big bottles and can sterilise a good quantity in one go and can be used with ease. Another drawback is the amount of steam water which comes out when you open it to take the bottles out. You end up with a very wet worktop! But, again, I think this is something fairly common of sterilisers. A good product for the price but needs to be descaled often.
It has one button so a no brainer uses minimal water and does the job as long as you don’t get behind with cleaning your bottles the five minute cleaning cycle is just what you need and doesn’t kill your microwave. I previously have used a microwave steriliser tub and microwave steriliser bags and the constant steaming and water log has claimed the life of 3 microwaves so opted for a none microwave approach as I don’t like or trust the cold sterilising you can’t get that smell off your bottles and if you can still smell it then it’s still on it so over all exactly what I need to give my baby a clean sterile none chemical smell bottle.
This steam steriliser barely lasts 2 months before the grey hot plate colouring comes off and renders the unit useless. Don’t buy. We’ve bought two and both units had the same problem. Tommee tippee and amazon make it as hard as possible to get a refund. My daughter is 7 months old and we are about to buy our third - not a tommee tippee one by the way!
I replaced my old model steriliser with the newer model for use on my youngest - the only thing that’s good about it is the design. This product has caused me no end of grief from short run cycles to spontaneously not heating and then not switching off at the end of a cycle. Complained to Tommee Tippee and they’re not prepared to replace or refund. I’ve only had the product for 4 months. I purchased this because I have been a long time user of the brand, i didn’t read the reviews but I certainly wish I had now.
The water leaks on the bench every use. I have contacted tommee tippee directly and after sending them the photos they requested they blamed this on lime scale build up. As you can see from my photo there is no lime scale and the machine has also done this from first use. Yes it works as a steraliser but after cleaning up after every use it is making the process longer. Read reviews online this is a common problem with the machine.
