The Photography in this publication, is the very worst I have ever seen in any of the many Gardening booke I have purchased over the years. The picture - in Black and White, are Blurred and Totally obscure in several plates. THIS IS NOT A BOOK FOR A BEGINNER< OR A GARDENER SEEKING VISUAL ENCOURAGEMENT TO ALTER THE APPEARANCE OF THEIR ESTABLISHED GARDEN> DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY .
‘Perennial Gardening’ by Susan Hollister is a worth to read guide about many different kind of bulbs, flowers, herbs and vegetables. They are very valuable plants but also need to be properly maintained. Susan shows how to looking after your plants to have wonderful garden year by year. I especially love hostas with beautiful, rich leaves but I just hate when slugs eaten them. I don’t try to spread sand around it, but it looks simple and more natural than blue pellets that I really afraid because kids and animals can accidentally taste. Also I never know that I shouldn’t cut dried steams of tulips as they may never grow again. So I won’t do it anymore. Susan gives very practical advices also what to do with perennial herbs, how to cut them and what are they favourite position. I love natural medicine so always have herbs in my garden but sometimes they just too poor and have insects on them. I am looking for more books by Susan Hollister about gardening and how to naturally prevent plants from aphides, slugs and others insects. I just can’t wait for spring time to prepare my garden that will be even more excited with Susan’s e-book.
I love perennial gardening and plants. This book was a delight. It covers an immense variety of ideas and suggestions and I had never thought about using vegetables as border plants but there are some fantastic suggestions. Susan Hollister has a fresh approach and gives detailed tips without becoming a bore. She gives suggestions on planning and layout and even has a section on therapeutic gardening that caters for sight, smell, sound and touch. There are also sections on grasses and foliage plants that are really interesting and using Asparagus as an ornamental is something I will try in the future. Well done Susan Hollister. This book is superb.
What a lovely written and informative book I will enjoy this for a lot of years, shame it’s badly printed and every photo is black and white (cheap aye) also some pictures are faded (good old Amazon) must be making a lot of money here I expect. So I say thank you to Susan Hollister only, I will look for your other books.
