These are great! My hair is long, thick, and layered and these help make a beautiful bun with very little effort. However, it took some practice to figure out how they work. I read the reviews about layers being a problem but that wasn't an issue for me. I do recommend putting your hair in a ponytail first. Clamp the hair and slide to the farthest point where all layers are still together and then roll upward, wrapping any layers that may escape. The ends also have to be in a certain direction to connect. It took me about 8 tries to figure it out and now I get a perfect (or messy) bun in a couple of minutes!
I have SUPER thick, kinda curly, and long (down to my mid back) hair. I half expected it to not work, but LO, even I can have a perfect bun! The directions are easy to follow, and it took me a few tries to get it right, but I managed.
The band(s) themselves are basically super strong snap bracelets that are connected on one side. I put my hair up in it after a shower when my hair is wet and super heavy, (when most hair products fail me) and it is still holding strong! I can shake my head about, and it doesnt budge. I can't wait to wear it to work tomorrow, which is what I bought these for, and see if it holds through 12 hours of factory work.
The only thing I'm still working on is I can't get the bottom part of the bun to look as nice as the rest of it. Maybe this will come with practice, or I'll listen to the signs that it's time to get my hair thinned a bit.
Other than that, I'm very pleased with this purchase! Especially if they hold up at work.
I used the original hairagami for years, but after all this time it finally fell apart. I needed to find something to replace it to get my hair into a bun on hot days. These are definitely a good value and seem to be well made. The "snap" feature isn't overly sensitive, which makes it easier to roll your hair and snap it into place when and where you want. My only complaint is that these are a bit too short for my long, thick hair; they're about 1-2 inches shorter than my original hairagami. It takes some getting used to, but generally I've had no problem using these and getting my hair up. It just doesn't feel quite as secure as I would like. That said, if you don't have the mop of hair that I do, you should be fine! Would recommend.
I am so thankful to have found these! After having tried many different hair clips over the years for my long hair, it was an immense relief to find something that I could twist up and would stay in place all day long. The only drawback in my mind is that the end is just taped and has started to fray after a couple months of daily use. I snipped it off and it’s still functional though. And once it’s not good any longer I’ll probably buy more because I haven’t found anything to compare. I have very dark brown hair and they blend in very well.
I have thick layered hair and have previously tried the sock bun and others like it. I always struggle because of the thickness of my hair and the layers. Using this product was so easy and it worked the first time I tried it. It works like one of those slap on bracelets. I think I will get better the more I use it but it was a great first try. I used to it to put all of my hair in a bun and also to do a half up half down look and both of them worked great. I did not feel like it was going to fall out either like I have with other similar products
I was afraid this would not work on my very thin/fine hair.....I figured maybe it was better for someone with thicker hair. I tried it with and without a ponytail, and I almost gave up and was gonna give these to a friend. They aren’t very expensive, so it would not have been a huge loss....
However, I was wrong! After about five tries, I got it!! Just think of these like “slap bracelets”. As I said, I tried this with or without a ponytail and it worked both ways. Just remember that you roll towards your head NOT away from it and just be sure to watch the tutorials on YouTube.
Functioned as expected, have been using daily for a few months now. Only caveat is the connection of the wrapped metal bands with the cloth hinge part. One has already failed, taped it temporarily and got a few more days of use. Could be an inherent weakness of the device and maybe can't really expect them to last more than a few months. Other than that pleased with how they work, will buy again when they wear out. Decidedly better design than another bun system we tried with foam covered wire.
Had super high expectations…. And they are ok. A little hard to get on right. I thought it would have been all connected, not open on one side. I can say it’s very secure once it’s on. It’s a hair slap bracelet… just wished it “closed” on the hair to lock in place then roll up and “slap” it to bun form.
My daughter has long thick hair and I could never get a bun to stay tight in her hair (she's 5). I need a nice looking bun for dance class and this does the trick. It takes me a few tries to get it in firmly and get the hair spread around, but it stays once it's in. Gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because there are no directions with the package. I just googled and YouTubed some videos.
I love how easy it is to just snap my bun in place and it always looks great! The only problem I have is with the "hair" that it is wrapped in, it starts to come off of the metal part, at that point you can no longer use it and have to order again. I wish that didn't happen but at the end of the day I love how it looks and how easy it is to use that I don't mind having to replace it.
