To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Overall it has been fine but I didn't buy it hoping to have a 'fine' picture in our home theater. From day one there has been a severe 'purple haze' on anything that is meant to be a stark white like clouds, white clothing, or snow. Without image setting adjustments these things are instead purple and very pixelated. After a lot of searching online and trying different image settings we've found a way around the purple haze but to the detriment of brightness, colors vividness, sharpness, contrast and overall picture quality. Yes, we now have a 110" 4K image in our home theater but the cheap 4K TV in our bedroom puts this picture to shame.
Good projector until it fails. It broke within the first year, and I took advantage of the warranty. After a bunch of emails they paid the cost to ship it in. Got it back, worked for about another nine months and broke again. Had to pay $115 to ship it back to Optoma, they "fixed" it again, and I got it back about three months ago. I can already see tell tale flickering and know it's going to fail again and now it will be out of warranty.
This is my forth Optoma projector. All the older models were great. This is $1600 of junk. Buyer beware.
