I bought one earlier but it could not download from Asustor app store, could not upgrade firmware. Manual installation is okay. Because the reduced price (I think Asus is finishing this line so sell in lower price). I returned it and bought another (no replacement warranty). Now the new is okay, so far so good at least.
I've been wanting a NAS for some time. I bought 2 of the recommended 4Gb hard drives. When the unit arrived I popped the HDD into the unit and literally within 30 minutes I had things up and running. If you aren't up for storing paying big $$ for LOT'S of space on the cloud THIS is the one you need. I've set it up...mapped a Network drive on my many computers...configured the windows backups...haven't had to TOUCH the unit since then. Love it!
bonjour je ne vous retournera pas le produit j ai trouve pour le faire fonctionner par contre j ai vu qu il était vendu a 319 euro au lieu des 359 euro que j ai paye possibilité de récupérer la différence merci
The very best and cheaper NAS I can found, reached all my expectation : HDMI 2.0 (4K) output, powerfull (Appolo Lake processor), all software are very nice (including Kodi 17.6 for use as HTPC), two disk for a RAID 1 configuration, full support of my personal web site. Very quiet unit, no fan or any other sound can be eared in normal conditions, and compact design. The only thing is maybe the 2Gb RAM fitted only: personally, I upgraded the internal RAM memory (very easy to do it...) to 8 Gb as soon as I received it (you can use CRUCIAL DDR3L 1866 MT/s PC3-14900 SODIMM memory sticks instead of the more expensive ASUSTOR memory sticks advised, working very well !). Enjoy it !
Love this product. I use the 2-bay version for file backup and not as a media server. The hard drives mount in dedicated trays require 4 screws to mount them. It takes a few moments to mount the drives, slide them in place, plug the NAS into the network, and power it up. I didn't bother using the supplied CD. Network discovery is a snap... as long as you know to IP address assigned to it; use the latest version of Asustor's Control Center software which you download from their website. It will identify the NAS and allow you to update the box with the latest Asustor Data Manager software. After a minute or two it'll be updated, then you can log in to the NAS from any PC on the network. I used a RAID 1 setup and it took quite a while for the two drives to fully map... just be patient. If you're interested in automated file backups try the free Asustor Backup Plan (BP) software. A copy of BP must be locally installed on each machine to be backed up, but it's a small program - BP must be running for backups to occur.
In operation the NAS is extremely quiet and you can even change the intensity of the LEDs on the front. The hotswap features works as promised and the latching mechanism is well-designed and easy to use.
Overall, a super little box that makes setting up a NAS easy!
Installed two 4 gigabyte NAS drives and away I went. The Asustor ez connect made setup a breeze was up and transferring files with in 15 minutes. Transfer rates were as high as 128 megabytes on Raid 0 setup. I only used one cat 5e patch cord as the NAS is connected to a unmanaged switch between the router and the NAS. I have installed PLEX and it was super easy to use with all of my movies and television shows. I have had as many as three tv's streaming at the same time and no stutter after buffer releases stream. The amount of apps available from Asustor is top notch. I also used Acronis to back up files and image hard drives to the NAS and it works flawlessly. I highly recommend this Asustor NAS.
I've been using a Synology NAS for a few years until it quit on me and I was going back and forth on which NAS to purchase...another Synology or this Asustor! Well this NAS is way easier to setup and use...the software and the apps are better also. I'm using it with my Plex server and nVidia Shield TV and I couldn't be happier...It just works!
Update 2-16-21: A year later and this NAS is still working great, no problems at all!
Excellent speed and updated processor. Amazing capabilities. Needs lockable trays and for the money should come with more memory and a free extra HD tray. I replaced memory with 2 X 4 GB Crucial sticks of matching specs without problem and for MUCH LESS than the upgrade memory that Asustor sells.
