Can no longer use two linked devices for conference calling after installing firmware v1.38. The speakers repeatedly cut in and out while the audio bounces between them. Since I see no way to downgrade the firmware, all I can do is wait and hope that they test their next release.
This speaker consistently drops calls all the time; the sound on my end is fine. Listeners tell me the sound on their end is slightly muffled; It's extremely frustrating to be on an important call only to have the Jabra disconnect the Bluetooth. I have a new iPhone 11 pro and ATT and the phone and the service are phone; I recommend staying away from this unit at this price.
Having owned the
Jabra Speak 510
puck for about two years, I was pretty excited to give the 510's big brother a try. I use my 510 constantly for conference calls on my cell phone, or connected via USB for Google Hangouts. Next to my computer, it's one of the few must-haves in my laptop bag.
Out of the box, the 710 looks beautiful. The metal speaker feels very high quality, the icons light up when you power the 710 on. Pairing via Bluetooth was a breeze. All of the controls are basically the same. Again, really geeked about this.
But then I made a call, and people kept complaining that they couldn't hear me. As I moved the 710 closer, the sound got better. But I'm used to having the 510 at least arm's length away, and here I was practically on top of the 710 just for people to understand me.
I chalked it up to not charging the 710 fully, so I gave that a shot, and used it on a call the next day. Same problem. I swapped out the 710 for my trusty 510, and the problem was totally gone.
Now, in terms of sound quality, the 710 is a gigantic leap forward from the 510. Voice quality was deep and rich, and if I didn't already have Bluetooth speakers, I'd kick around using this for listening to music from time to time. But the microphone is absolutely dismal.
Really disappointing, Jabra. This could have been a killer product for people who spend loads of times in mobile meetings.
