To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Pros: Great sound quality. Wireless is awesome. Mic works wonders even in large rooms. Bluetooth, wireless dongle or wired connection - the flexibility rocks! I use this for conference calls all the time and a fully charged battery lasts a fairly long time (I haven't had time to measure it).
Cons: The dongle driver does not over ride the bluetooth connection which has lead to it being paired both wireless and dongle which really does not work (minor but annoying when I forget which way I have paired it as my computer does not do well with this when I have more than 3 bluetooth devices hooked up), the other issue is that it seems really slow to charge up
I owned a Jabra 510 for years. Worked great, although sometimes spotty on the sound. The 710 is a big improvement and the stand on the back is great. I purchased two of these for the linking capability. Makes the sound even better and playing music is now in stereo. My only complaint is the cost, for what they are I think the price is a bit high. Also, knowing what I know now I would have only purchased 1, the linking is not justified by the additional cost.
The Jabra Speak 710 Wireless Bluetooth Speaker is simply an amazing desktop speakerphone, because its more than that. It's truly a great speaker for general audio. The bass response (nearfield) is very good and the dynamic range wider than most. No distortion at loudest settings.
I may just get a second for that stereo experience.
One MAJOR STAR deducted because the support software only supports Microsoft Business for Skype. No others, and I think this is a big problem.
We've been using the Jabra Speak 710 Bluetooth Speaker system for several weeks. It was packaged well and easy to pair with several models of iPhone. The packaging came with a nice quality zipped and padded carrying case. It also came with a USB charging cable of high quality. The multilingual Quick Start Guide was well-written and easy to follow.
The touch controls on the outside bezel are easy to use. The controls include up and down volume, answer and end call, mute and power. In addition there are several LEDs to indicate battery status and Bluetooth connectivity. All were easy to understand and responsive. Another nice feature is the retractable stand to allow the speaker to stand at an angle for better directional sound.
We have used the Speaker for conference calls. The sound quality was excellent, much better than the iPhone speaker. The only quibble we have with this Speaker is the sound quality of music streamed from the iPhone. While it's not reasonable to expect excellent quality music reproduction from iTunes-hosted music over Bluetooth, we felt for the reasonably high-priced Speaker that the sound quality should have been higher. It was slightly mushy at both the high and low frequency ends.
Overall, the Jabra Speak 710 is a high-quality, well-rounded speaker and great for conference calling and most music needs.
Upgraded from a Jabra Speak 510. Overall, volume level is higher than the 510 and sounds from your phone or PC are definitely clearer. Others have stated my voice sounds the same as when I used the 510, which is not a bad thing.
I have not used the included BT dongle, nor have I tried the link option to combine two 710's together. I use this device regularly with an iphone 6s plus.
My only complaint is the color status LEDs that circle the top of the unit. In the 510, these were clearly visible from any angle and you could see whether you were connected, muted, etc. When laid flat, the 710's LED visibility disappears to the point you need to be looking directly over it to see them. There's a built-in kickstand that props the unit up which fixes the visibility issue, but then you have to be careful when pressing on the interface or you can easily knock it over.
Excellent for conference calls. The only reason it didn’t get 5 stars is because the unit has only one microphone so placing the unit in the middle of a table means half the table doesn’t get heard nearly as well. Meaning this unit is great as long as all people speaking into the unit are directly infront of the single microphone.
